POLL: Paul Stanley or David Lee Roth?

Question

Both men were iconic frontmen in the 80's, which left a more lasting impression on you?

Note: David was successfully replaced for a while; Paul has never been replaced.

For me, it's Paul Stanley, hands down. I saw him live more than a dozen times, and all but one of those was during the no makeup era. Pyrotecnics were minimal in those days; to me, Paul was unforgettable. I can still see a few of his audience participation things in my mind, he had a gift for getting 20,000 plus to 'eat out of the palm of his hand' consistently.

I went to see Diamond Dave in concert once (solo) and it was AWFUL!! He was so drunk that he was falling down all over the stage and couldn't remember the words to many of the Van Halen songs he was trying to sing (and only did a couple from his solo work). When VH replaced DLR with Sammy, I called them Van Hagar. It didn't sound like VH at all, just Sammy with different people backing him up. I've seen Kiss in concert once (and had a solo album of Paul Stanley's) and it was great. No drunkeness, no falling down, no cursing at the crowd. A real class act. Because of all this... I would definitely have to go with Paul Stanley.

David Lee Roth was NOT successfully replaced! Van Halen went down when Sammy joined! That's why they're going to tour with David and NOT Sammy! Wolfy Van Halen instead of Eddie! Gonna be great!
