1. Depends but usually 10 days but normally until after you're declared sterile...about 30 days.
2. No, it's a local anesthesia. Your scrotum is shaved and they make a small incisions, pull out one tube, snip it (usually 1 - 2 cm taken out), the ends are cauterized and you are sewn up. The same with tube number 2.
3. The pain, if any, is like a slight head ache. I got home, put a bag of frozen peas in a hand towel, put on my low rise skivvies and laid on the couch the rest of the day, evening. The next day, we went to my in-laws for a cookout. Monday, I went back to work (mostly a desk job).
4. I think I found mine a couple of times and offered to show it to my sisters-in-law, but so far only one of them have looked for it.
5.Why would you want a vasectomy at 18? Get real. No doctor would touch you!
I was 31 when I had mine and had 2 boys already. Best $200 I ever spent. That was in March of 77. There was a 30 day wait after my interview with the doc to have the surgery. Had to take my wife with me and she had to sign a paper. This is in Virginia.

Depending on ur state some do have an age restriction. When I was in the service, wife was pg with out last and i was way over 18. they didn't even want to consider it at the time until the child was born. But it was up to her not me. Some places are very picky about it. After it is done they might ask u to bring in a sample every so often to see if any sperm is still alive. Depending on how active u r depends on how long it will be around. Think about a garden hose, u turn of the water but some is still in there until u drain it out. After about three or for times it is much less. I'm sure they have gotten better at than yrs past, some guys had to stay (recommended)off their feet for a few days. I have know a couple of guys that swelled up but it went down. Each person is different. I'm sure they will give u pain meds just in case and tell all the do's and do nots. But yea sex after a few moths with no worry GREAT. Just make sure u have ur family now b/c u can not go back or they didn't used to.

The procedure is about 20 minutes from hands on to finish. The Dr. will apply a local to the area just below the base of the penis. He will them make a very small incision after finding the vas deferens ( the tube that carries the seminal fluid. He will pull that small tube through the incision and place a very small clamp about 2 to 3 cm apart. He will cut the area between these clamps. on suture will close this small incision. The other side is done the exact same way. Recovery is very short. Some people return to work immediately(though not recommended) if the procedure was done at noon, you would rest for that day and resume light activity for two or three days. No pain medication is usually needed for this. The scar is not noticeable.Intercourse is ok when you feel well enough to do it, again, 1 or two days.

I got mine 20 years ago. It was a piece of cake. The surgery took only about 15 min. I drove myself home. The technology has improved over the last 20 years. I am sure it is even simpler today.
Recovery is 2-5 days. Take care having sex in the first week, because you can get an infection. Often infections are caused by sweat getting into the yet unhealed incisions. I got mine on a Friday. I was back to work on Monday. I was having sex again on the following weekend (using a condom).
No, I was talking to the surgeons’ assistant the whole time, as she was telling me what he was doing.
Pain was 3 or 4. Back then we just took Asprin. Again that depends on if you follow the doctors instruction, and don’t try to lift anything, etc.
I have no scar. They didn't use any stitches on me. He used some kind of glue and tape. I have looked very closely, for a scar, just because I was curious. My girlfriend used to work in a clinic. She said that some men get scars, but most do not.
Yes, the age is 18. Don’t let anyone lie to you about the age. It is up to the doctor or clinic policy if they want you to be older. Remember that is not law, that is just policy. If they refuse you, go to a different clinic. That is what I did. I got mine just before I turned 22. I have no children. They asked, and I just told them I did. They never asked for any verification. They also asked how my wife felt. I lied and said she was OK with it. They can't legally verify that. She later divorced me over it.
It is better to err on the side of caution. I used codoms for almost a year after I got mine.

1. My husband recovered in about 3 days
2. He was awake, they use a local and do it in a doctor's office, not at the hospital. If they were to put you totally under it would in the hospital and lots more expensive.
3. My husband did not complain of the pain until my 3 year old son at the time jumped on his crotch. He did use the pain meds that the Dr. prescribed him "just in case" though.
4. I can't see the scar even when I am "down there"
5. I don't know about the minimum age. I am sure there are restrictions about being fully developed and such though.
It was the best thing we could have done for our sex life... not having to take the pill or use a condom has made us both in the mood more often.

I had mine done about 8 years ago when I was 27.
1. I was a bit sore for about 3-5 day after wards but was having sex again after about 5 days I think (had to test out the equipment)
2. You can have it done under local or general antithetic. I had mine done under local. It is much safer and faster. I talked to the doctor while he was doing it.
3.In regards to the pain. When they give you the antithetic into the tube before they cut its about a 5 i would say but this only lasts about 3 seconds. Afterwards you are numb for about 2 hours (I drove myself home). They are a bit uncomfortable for a few days. A bit like a very dull tooth ache. I had mine done on a friday afternoon and was back at work by monday.
4. I have no scar that I have been able to see. The cut is only about 1cm long and only needs one stitch to close up on each side.
5. I'm not sure what the age limits are but the doctor tried to talk me out of getting it done at 27. I still wanted it done as I had 2 kids and did not want anymore.
It is so much safer than your wife taking the pill for the next 20 plus years and way so much safer than your sife getting her tubes tied. That is a major opperation.
Just one small note. There is a very small chance of getting an infection of the eppidimus (the tube they cut) after getting it done. I have had this twice over the last 8 years but it is only very minor and is easily treated with anitbiotics. There is only a 5% chance of this happening I have been told. Guess I'm just unlucky.

I want to start be saying I have had this done.
1. It takes 3 days to recover. That is what the doctor will tell you. You may feel totally ready to do normal things sooner, but give it 3 days.
2. No they do not put you to sleep. They numb your sack.
3. To be honest. I was laughing at my Ex wife by the faces she was makeing. So, yes there was alittle disconfert but nothing to get worried about. 1 to 3.
4. As far as a scar. If you take care of it as the doctor will ask you to. There should not be. I dont have a scar.
5. Yes, I am sure you have to be 18. I was 25.

1. Usually a couple days with no complications. Can be done on Friday, back to work on Monday. Stay off your feet. If any bleeding or pain, stay off longer. Standing is not good at first. You will have blood filled testicles for a few days or week, not painful.
Intercourse may take a few weeks, depending on healing. You'll know.
2. NOPE. You are awake with a local. When it is tied, it feels like your vas is being pulled from your throat. Not terrible tho.
3. 1-2
4. Only if one searches for it. Scar has a slight hard feel.
5. Doctors would hesitate or refuse to perform it on one so young.
I had a friend who did not stay off his feet, developed complications and extended bleeding and healing time.
I lay down Fri., Sat, Sun. Back to work Mon. in sales. Done 1960.
Reversal is not always successful and it's not cheap.

1. I took a couple of weeks, because I didn’t have a regular girlfriend at the time. I had taken a week of work. My buddy drove me home.
2. No, I was awake. They had a mirror so I could see.
3. 1-2 (dull pain), because they gave me some strong pain killer. I have to say it itched more than it hurt. It really only hurt when I walked around.
4. No notable scar – just a little mark.
5. I was 25, unmarried, no kids. I had no problem.
