I don't know what scale you are working in so I'll make some general comments. Craft stores will have some doll house items that may be helpful. Also check out the decorative wood shapes that they have. With a little work you should be able to make most of what you need. For example, for the salon chair you could use a spool for the base and a flat rectangle for the back and seat. Wooden dowels for the arm rests and if you wanted to make a hair dryer use a previous posters other half of a ping pong ball for it.
You can also make signs on your computer, get some peel and stick label paper and you can really make the place look good. Test the signs on regular paper until you get the sizes right so you don't waste the paper. If you have a scanner you can also make magazines this way and wouldn't the latest hair style book look great laying in the salon chair or on a counter. Good luck.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Whit W. covered it pretty well... it really depends on the SCALE of the model you're creating.

I teach a class at our local dollhouse store, as well as being a rabid model railroader, dioramist, and theater props-master.

I LOVE and strongly recomment Whit's suggestion that you use your computer to generate some objects like magazines, signs, and such.

The Chairs can come from a doll-house-supplier, or you could use some simple wire / rod to bend the chrome-frame, and then use wood-blocks or such to build up the seat and backrest.

I wish you LUCK... and wish you had given us alittle more information to help you with.
