The song had a rock/folk style to it. I believe the first line was something like "the streets run dry beneath my beloved" and at one point the lyrics are "i could be strong, i could be brave, but oh my love not today" The chorus was
"but its a long long way, a long long way from home." For some reason I think i remember that the name of the song, or the group, or the album, or the subject matter was Ireland but i could be wrong. Please help me find the artist and title of the song and hopefully the album.

Stevie Ray Vaughan recorded "Long Way From Home" on the album The Full Discover Package. It's a classic blues song.

Could this be the one?

I have the song you're asking about, recorded to MiniDisc in April 1998. Can't recall if it came off a CD, FM radio, or maybe even MTV. Sorry. I did write the artist in as being Mighty Joe Plum, a band from Florida; and the title "Irish" with a parenthetical note (Long Long Way) and this: Tr.1 on The Happiest Dogs (1997).
