I have a home network setup. The problem is that I cant seem to share the printer I have. The printer is connected to computer A and I cant seem to print from computer B. I have a Netgear Firewall/Print Server that connects both computers. The server has a parallel printer port that I can connect to my printer, but my printer has a USB B male port. The printer is a HP All in One 1300 series. I tried to add a new printing port using the software that came with the server but it doesnt list my printer that I use. I have bought all the adapters that connect a parallel port to a USB port, but my computer cant detect the printer when I connect the printer to the serve instead of computer A. Can anyone know what the problem is?

I have had very little luck with USB to Parallel adapters on a printe server because the print server doesn't usually have any USB support built in to find it correctly? Just a guess, but never have been able to do it and get it to work correctly.

If you have your printer connected to A and it works, you can simply share that printer from that machine. You will then be able to address it from B and add the correct drivers. You simply skip and don't use the print server on the netgear.

You do need to be sure the netgear firewall will allow those two machines to communicate. If I remember correctly the default firewall settings on it will not allow local network unless set correctly it will block your printer and file sharing between both A and B computers.

on the server computer, click on start in the lower lefthand corner, select printers and faxes, choose the printer that you have set up and left click on its icon. Scroll down the dropdown menu to properties, the second tab should be (sharing). Click on it and make sure that you have opted to share the printer.
