My MIL is throwing me a baby shower, well she's acting like she is. Her way of throwing the baby shower is by buying decorations and saying "oh we can decorate with this" but not actually planning anything. So i've taken on the role of coming up with all of the ideas and she's taking my ideas for her own and buying the supplies. Well i am going to have girls from the age of 18 all the way to older women in their 70's. I came up with the idea of buying a bunch of onesies(99 cents) and having a bunch of iron on designs and fabric paint so everyone can design a personalized onesie. Also my mom and MIL will decorate a bib that is dedicated to eachother and i will be making an overnight/diaper bag that both grandma's will use. Do you think this is an ok idea? I don't like the idea of corny games and i'm just wondering if everyone will find this entertaining... in your opinion.
There will be more to the shower but this is the "main event".

I bought iron on printing paper and am finding all different kinds of designs (stuff for the younger, older, and in betweens) i'm just looking at sticker sheets and printing them out via microsoft word onto the iron on paper so there will be plenty of variety.

to everyone who asked if they could steal my idea...

OF COURSE!!! lol I'm sure it's been thought of before tho.

I encourage everyone to do this.

and if they don't have 99 cent onesies just try to get multiple hosts so they can split the costs

I did this once at a shower and it was fun. Just don't let it drag on too long. Have people start as soon as they walk in - get a drink, start decoarting - so it doesn't take up two hours.

One fun game we played at my shower (everyone from my little sister to my great grandmother was there) was we got different types of baby food and stuck them in diapers. Everyone got to write down what they thought was in each diaper. We numbered the diapers one to ten. The person who got the most right won a picture frame so they could put a picture of the baby in it once he was born.
At my friends shower she printed off words searches that you could put your own words in. Whoever found all the words the quicket won the prize.
A very common game people play is giving everyone a clothes pin win they come into the shower. If the person says the word baby or crosses their legs or arms you can take away their clothes pin. Whoever has the most clothes pins at the end of the shower wins a prize.

I personally think you have a lot of really good creative ideas going on for your shower.
Another sweet idea is a time capsule. On your invitations you can ask everyone to bring something to put in the box for your baby to open on her 16th birthday. This will be esspecially good for the older generation who may not be there in 16 years to wish happy birthday. Everyone who wanted to participate could bring a small item or letter. You write everything down and stick the paper in the box. It will hold tons of memories and warm wishes for the future.

A game we played at my aunt's shower was we went through the alphabet naming names that started with a certain letter. If it was your turn and you couldn't think of a name that had already been used you were out. That is a good game if you are looking for baby names.

I'm sorry my answer was so long. I love baby showers, lol. I hope you have a really good time and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I really like that idea. I like going to baby showers where everyone is involved.

You didn't mention it, but are you going to keep the personalized onesies? I think it would be a very cute idea if you kept then and when the child was born, took a picture of him/her in each of the onesies. You could send the picture to them as your birth announcement or just the picture itself. It would be a memory for everyone.

If you don't like that idea I still think decorating them is a great idea.

Good luck and congrats!

I wish I would have thought about the onsie decorating, it would have been really cute every age should enjoy that. You have some great ideas, we played the corny games, guess the baby food, the baby bin if you say the word baby and someone hears it they take your pin and who ever has the most pins won a prize, and the yarn were people try to guess how big you are.

My mom is doing the same game with the onies, making the baby one from everyone there..great idea, also the game with guessing how big you are around. Crossing the legs and safety pin game. A bottle full of jelly beans and who ever guess the right amount or close gets the bottle and candy..things like that..

I think that is a great idea. Its very creative and sounds like fun. I think that as long as you get different iron on designs that fit all the age groups then it will work out perfectly.

I think it's a great idea and very original. Plus personalized things are always the best. I wish I was creative (though I had my shower weeks ago), lol! Good luck!

I love that idea, I don't like the idea of corny games either. I may suggest this for something to do at my shower as well.
