do u think the cardinals can sweep milwauke and the cubs or at least win both of those series to shoot them way in to contention for the central division? the pitching has been getting better. anthony reyes and kip wells have had some pretty good outtings lately. wainwright and looper are red hot. and pineiro is a dave duncan project. Ankiel might also add a little pop to the lineup. are the cardinals winning the division this year?

Don't count the redbirds out! Think about it. This Cards team has plenty of experience at winning while being the underdog. I know that pitching is different than last year, but look at the 06 pitchers now.

Jeff Weaver had a terrible start to the season in Anaheim. He came to the Cards halfway through the season, but still sucked. Although, he starts to get hot towards the end of the season. Think of Anthony Reyes as this year's Weaver.

Jeff Suppan is a veteran pitcher who had his ups and downs at the beginning of the year (mostly downs). He then ends up being a lights out pitcher at the end of the season and in the playoffs. Think of Kip Wells as this year's Suppan.

Also, like you said, Wainwright and Looper have been on fire! Sure they both had rocky starts. But their getting the job done when it matters the most. Both of them now have double digits in the wins column and both have records above .500.

Now, I don't think Rick Ankiel will have as big as an effect as everyone thinks he will. Ankiel is a good player, but his problems will show up sooner or later. He does tend to strikeout a lot!

This team seems very similar to the last year's World Championship team. Plus, the "experts" are stupid. On Around The Horn, they said that Adam Kennedy's injury will hurt the Cardinals! Hurt them?! Yeah, we'll really miss that .219 average he was sporting! His absence means that St. Louis was able to call Brendan Ryan back up. So, what did Ryan do his first game back? He had a homer and a double! Wow, that sounds terrible! If only we had Kennedy! What BS! Aaron Miles will be just as good as Kennedy.

So, when you look at this team, you have to think that they have a strong chance. They're definetly getting a great opportunity this week with Milwaukee and Chicago. Hopefully, they'll take advantage of it!

Go Cards!!!!!!!!!!!

I really agree with #1 Cards Fan. . . . . look at the cubbies. . . they lose one player and they are playing bad and the brewers aren't playing too well right now either. Our pitching is getting a lot better Reyes and Wells are definetly improving. Ryan Ludwick and Rick Ankiel are doing amazing right now! Edmonds and Rolen are doing better as well. . . . IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S OVER!!! This team is one that definetly should never be counted out because just when you think they won't do any better they surprise you!
CARDINALS ALL THE WAY!!

yea, i think they can, if they keep playing good. i mean last year they looked were down, and they still made it and took home a championship. so they can do it this year also. it just depends if they start getting hot right now. if they do, them it shouldn't be hard. they have everything they need, they just need to get it working together. if they play like they did tonight then there shouldn't be any trouble. kip wells was goot, he only gave up three runs in 6 innings, and there offense was right there with 12 runs. i think the young guys on the team are doing really good. they brought new life to the cards i think.

i think they can definatly go all the way. although we need to get our power hitters hitting a little better. as in we need some long balls from albert.

GO CARDS!!!

I think that they can do it as they are the veteran team in contention, they know how to win. The Cubs only know how to lose World Series, and the Brewers are all young. Don't count them out, our SP may work out, and never underestimate LaRussa. Ankiel could be a spark, and Pujols and Duncan will heat up soon.

Never ever count the Cardinals out. It's baseball anyway. All these people on this forum who go crazy because their team just took a 1/2 game lead and think that now they've already won the series are dumb. IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S OVER!!!!

We've done it before we can do it again. Of course I think we can do it. Were getting hot at the right time of the year.
Go Cardinals.
