Here is the best reason I can give you why we hate them. YOU NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THEM. Please, spare me the nonsense about how great they are, how misunderstood the emos are. I can't recall the goth peeps all coming up in here and whining like "how come all you people hate the Sisters of Mercy?" You know why? Because they don't adhere to a pack mentality like the emos. I am so sick of seeing the same questions about this no-talent, pretentious group of posers. Like whatever you want but don't get defensive when the majority of people with musical taste tell you the truth.

Hate is not the word... You know when you see the same commercial 5 times when you watch your favorite TV show, bugs you a bit huh? It is the same with MCR. People over and over post, OMG MCR, Who is the cutest?, they are the best!, when are they touring?, too all haters!, your favorite band? MCR! etc....

Many of us grow tired of the posts, but yes we can not answer, but then we are asked questions like this.

They are simply a popular band of the moment spawn by MTV and Myspace popularity and a crazed fan base. They are not that interesting sound wise nor break any significant musical ground. MCR simply recycles influences of the past 25 years of alternative music. So they simply do not cater to my tastes nor do I expect them too. I am sure they are not short of fanbase, so no worries...

In 3 years we will be hearing about another musical flavor of the moment, after emo falls into the grunge, hair metal and boy band abyss. Mind you I was a fan of 80's New Wave in High School, bands like Duran Duran, The Fixx and Human League. I moved on and so will you...

I highly doubt that I could come up with anything better than what Lovnrockets and Prof. Anger already so eloquently said, so know that I echo their sentiments 1,000%.

I don't like MCR, because, simply, I don't like their music. I think it's boring and unoriginal. The singer's voice grates on my nerves, I don't find their lyrics inspiring and I don't find their musicianship to be moving in any way. End of sentence.

And while I find the rabid, hysterical "I'M NOT EMO!!!" teenagers or the holier-than-thou "I didn't just get on the bandwagon" fans (who are, and always HAVE been a personal pet peeve of mine), and the brainwashed loyal followers who vow to "hate the haters" to be infinitely more annoying than mere words could ever express, I can't necessarily blame MCR for that. It's not the band's fault that their fans are a cult. I blame MTV and the record label for creating it.

I listened to a few songs a while back because they come up so much here and I just found it all to be pretty lack-luster. I just didn't think it was very interesting. With that said, I would just shrug my shoulders and move on, I've liked plenty of bands even less than I like them (Red Jumpsuit Aparatus is probably the one you kids are into that I really can't wrap my brain around, they did the Face Down tune right?) but I'm with Lovenrckts (who is very smart). You guys really need to just stop with the MCR this and "why don't you like them" and "god I hate the bandwagon fans" and "they're emo" and "they're not emo" and "why are you calling us emo" and all the ridiculous questions. All you emo kids cry oppression, everyone is picking on you, and you don't even realize that no one cares about what is and isn't emo or what music it encompasses until you barrage everyone with question after question about it. No one would pick on you if you as a collective group just toned it back a few notches. Not stop talking about it entirely, just perhaps look into how well tread a question is before you ask it, and maybe stop caring about the "haters" and whatever else you need explained in questions like these. There is music you don't like, right? Well apply that same feeling to someone else and MCR and you've got your answer. My cousin thinks Radiohead is boring, which makes no sense to me, but there is stuff he really thinks is great that I swear comes out of a literal "pop machine" somewhere underground at Capital. So, we just have different taste. It's when it drones on and on and on that it takes a band that is just kind of uninventive and slightly distasteful and turns it into a true annoyance. Kind of like the Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan effect.

Oh My God! Some of you people really need to learn to type. You're barely saving any keystrokes. Is it hip to come off illiterate these days?

Well put Silvia on the next page. Good answer, and not just because you complimented mine. Well put.

There are a couple of reasons...

1. I have no respect for bands who go platinum and then continue to write music talking about how rough life is, and how nothing ever goes their way...its essentially the same as rappers who make a million dollars, move into a gated community and then talk about how their from the "ghetto"

2. I have no respect for bands who claim to be "non-conformists", and "against the corporate machine" and yet they don't mind selling their shirts at hot topic, or getting their videos played on MTV.

3. I have no respect for bands who have to use a trendy gimmick (make-up, black hair dye, etc) to get 14 year old kids to listen to their music.

4. I have no respect for bands who play on a tour called "project revolution" that is sponsered by best buy, verizon, major league baseball, and x-box....what exactly are they revolting against ?

5. I'm just fed up with all of the "teen angst" music these days...American kids have better lives than 90% of the rest of the world and yet they all act like they are getting a raw deal somehow....its all garbage.

I love MCR... I do think that they could be more original and that they could do SO much more than they have with their music. They could do some really edgy stuff. Gerard has a GREAT and unique voice and Ray's guitar skills are Awesome. They're still a really young band, but with time, I think they make some major improvements. They just need to switch things up a little bit... Each album has a different sound, but each song on each album is way too similar.

On I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love, all the songs sound the same!! They just need to switch things up a bit.

I had never heard of MCR until I saw them live at Street Scene in San Diego. There was a bunch of bands there that I had never heard of, so I gave them all a chance.

Well, MCR was amazingly terrible. I watched them for a couple songs (giving them the benefit of the initial doubt), but they never got better. It just sounded like crap the whole time. I still fail to see what everyone sees in them.

I want that time in my life back!

I Personally Love MCR.
I think the people who hate on MCR are just outspoken, and just don't like the band's music, so they get frustrated that they are so popular. they may also only judge them by THE BLACK PARADE album, and not by some of their other music.

I love em!
...And i could'nt really care a less for those people that don't like them. I like the band for them. Their music, talent, lyrics, everything! And those people that say they're just talentless wannabees obviously dont know the band as well as they think they do.
Their music doesn't make people depressed, sad or turn them 'emo', i'm none of those things and i still listen to them! :)

Mcr makes me happy listening to them, and nobody elses opinion really matters to me!

Even though I really don't like this band, I asked this same question kindof a while ago. VERY few people gave mature answers, so good luck on this question. I don't like the band because they are a bit too poppy for my tastes, and they don't have anything to set them apart from other bands.
