I know how you feel. because im under 15 my dad has to work minimum wage as he's part time. so even though we live in rented accommodation its with huge benefits and can barely pay our share. Luckily im 15 in january so my dad can full time again (15 is the age where a child can stay home alone for long periods of time legally) but it means the benefits go down so it's a circle. I doubt we'll ever get a council flat because of the immigrants coming in by the truckload. Hopefully once Labour is out of control, England will bounce back from this and help young families. Unless i start saving now or marry a very rich man i probably won't be able to afford my own house. Which just will lenghten the waiting list for council houses. Basically, Labour messed up big time, but won't admit it and just make us pay the price for their mistakes.

We live in the South Wales Valleys - one of the poorest areas in the UK, and my partner and I have been living on £80 per week for the last few weeks since he lost his job - thats £40 per week for each of us!! £100 per week LESS than you've been getting! And we have a small baby!
He's just started a new job and won't get paid till the end of the month when we should start to get square again. He's actually working 50 hours a week at his new job (driver/valeter) then coming home and delivering Dominos Pizzas all night on the weekends just to bring in enough to keep us going, poor man is exhausted!!!!
Don't go to clubs, don't buy bottles of wine, don't have coffee and cappucinos. All a waste of money! We never get to do these things!
Make your own sandwiches and take them to work or else just buy a cheap pack of Tesco sandwiches for £1.99. Pay your bills first and then whatever you have left over you can spend on coffee and muffins and suchlike.
A "proper" wage doesn't exist - many of us just have to work for the National Minimum Wage - £5.35 an hour. The Government likes to tell us that we actually "won't do" these jobs and thats why we need loads of East Europeans to do them, which is BS because many many British people live on Minimum Wage (my other half and I do!) - in the poorest areas there often isn't much choice, its min. wage work or nothing.

You certainly seem to be living a better life than other people.
Stop complaining and just be grateful for what you've got.
If you want to save money, take a lunch into work with you. Have the coffee but not the muffin. Don't go out on a night time as much. Would a bus pass or permit not be cheaper than buying singles? Don't buy a paper, catch up with the news on the net.

I don't live in your country, I live in Colorado, USA...I can tell by others answers you are not poor! There are many people in this country too who should have plenty of money, but they don't! WHY? Money Management! You need to go to your area college and take a course in how to keep more of what you earn..YES, I could tell you how to do it--but you wouldn't take that SERIOUSLY!! Do THIS! For yourself--or you will continue down the same path leading you to Bancrupcy! Pay for this by skipping coffee for a time and bring a doughnut from home. You shouldn't be buying milk each day either, buy a gallon, or whatever that means where you live once every 5 days, it will still be good and healthy!! DO IT! Give your self a break! You don't need to be working 2 Jobs, and thats where you are heading! Good Luck!

FFS, this is why so many people are in debt. It is possible to cook for one, you know...and any leftovers can be frozen or eaten the next day. And there's these things, they're called sandwiches - they're really cheap to make, and guess what? You can make those yourself!
Cut out the stupid expensive cappuccinos (which are a rip-off in themselves) and buy your muffin (if you really need one) from Greggs. Do you really need to buy a paper when you have the internet for free? (and a bottle of milk plus a paper DOES NOT equal £1.50. Are you buying the gold-plated Sun or just being ripped off?) Can't you entertain at your house a little more? Why don't you buy a bus pass?
Jesus, what you spend in a day is a quarter of my income for the week! Think yourself lucky you can afford to go out. My last night out alone was months ago, because I can't afford it. You have to learn how to cut back - it's all part of being an adult.

I can't quite make up my mind if you're joking or not. However you obviously have no idea what it's like to really struggle to make ends meet, so anyway, here's my advice:
Try making your own sandwiches for lunch every day. Instead of going out clubbing, invite your friends round and cook a meal together, say someone brings a bottle of wine, someone else brings a pudding and you cook the main course.
Forget going to a coffee shop for a cappuccino and a muffin, they're all crap anyway.
And just thank your lucky stars you have the choice to do all that!!!! Some people just struggle to put food on the table for themselves and their kids. Just wait until you grow up and have kids, then you'll know what it means to have no money!

£2.50 for a bottle of milk & a paper?
Where are you shopping, Harrods?
Unless you can afford it, don't go into the club.
Do the buses still run when you come out of it in the morning?
If you are not being paid the minimum wage, then the company is breaking employment law.
The current minimum wages as stated by the DTI are;
Development pay 16-17 year old = £3.30 per hour:
Development pay 18 - 21 year old = £4.45 per hour:
Minimum wage for 22 years old & over = £5.35 per hour.
Hope that this helps.

What a strange life you lead. Nearly £10 for lunch? £2.50 for a paper? I think you need to take a serious look at your lifestyle.
To answer your question, there is no 'proper' wage no matter where you live. You get what you are worth. What do you mean by the poorest town? I have never heard anywhere described like that.

I survive on £12 a day at uni! but i tend to just spend £30 a week on shopping and have other money for books and eating out going clubing. Minimum wage if its the poorest city then the pay changes with your qualifications.

Spend a little less on socialising and you'll have plenty for the important things, like bills!
You could always take a packed lunch and a flask of coffee with you. If you're not prepared to make an effort like that you shouldn't really be whining.
