My daughters stools have been firmer than usual the last few days... what can help with that? Thanks!

For the people saying I should breastfeed... I did for the first 3 weeks of her life, but at 2 weeks old she went into the NICU and almost died. She had a breathing tube, couldn't eat for about 6 days (then they put in a feeding tube) and I couldnt leave her bedside long enough to pump, or eat a decent meal. It was touch and go and at that point felt that my presence was more important, and if people dont agree with that - I'm sorry. I did the best I could.

More formed than usual or like gravel in her diaper? If she's not straining to push it out, let her be. It could be her new normal poop.

However, in light of her past history, with the feeding tube, I would consult either her neonatalogist or pediatrician as to any supplemental juice she can have. (Generally, the rule of thumb is one ounce per month of her age up to twice a day.) I wouldn't give her Karo syrup because there's no evidence that it works, and sugar can give her diarrhea.

Are you nursing or using formula? Her formula may have too much iron in it, which can cause constipation if she's sensitive. I think my mom used to put some dark Karo syrup in with the formula, or maybe a tablespoon of prune juice. Check with your pediatrician first, though.

Oh, anything can happen in the nappy department. As long as she isn't constipated, don't worry. There's very little chance of that if she's breastfed, but it is more common with formula feeding.

It could be too much milk. You may need to mix the milk lighter

Give a tps of sugar water 3 times a day

if you are giving her formula this is due to the iron, find a low iron formula or water it down more, some prune or pear juice helps too,

stp giving formula and breastfeed/express your milk only. If its too lat for your milk then change fr cows milk formula to goats milk formula. goats milk is almost as good as human milk in its composition
