I am able to pick up a wifi connection from my house. I heard that you can see who else is using the signal, what they are doing and the name of the signal you are picking it up from. What can you do to see who else is using the same signal? (is this a feature only on vista?)

No, if anything can tell you it would be the router, log in to the router probably through a web browser via IP Address and see if it will show you

If it's not your connection you really have no right to know who is using it. Morals aside, I'd say that if you are connected to an unsecured wireless network and the name is something like "Linksys" or "Belkin XXXXXXX" or "Netgear" then you probably have a neighbor that has no idea how to properly secure his wireless router, and probably did not change the default administrative password either. In which case, you could get into it and not only view the MAC addresses of any computer that is currently connected to it, but you could mess up the settings and really ruin his day. I don't advocate that but the same thing could happen to you if you were the one with the default wireless router that hadn't been set up properly. Maybe whoever it is was smart enough to change the default administrative password. You could find out but again I think it's none of your business.

It is not an operating system issue.

Go to the router and check the DHCP page - it will show you who is on line

This is another reason for you to secure your network soundly. Keep freeloaders and hackers out!

Go over and confront them, or break the connection
