I live in Vancouver and have never been to Toronto, but I do know that Toronto is much more polluted and has stronger weather than Vancouver (hotter summers, sudden snowstorms).
I don't know about the people in Toronto, but the people here in Vancouver are nice. And I agree with the asker, we have nicer weather.

I visited Vancouver on vacation recently, and I live in Toronto, so I can say that I would definitely live in Vancouver. The weather is better and it is definitely cleaner, you can actually swim at the beach!
Stanley Park is one of the best aspects, and it's just so much greener that Toronto; I felt like I was in a rainforest market at times.
And it's beautiful! The views from Lionsgate Bridge are amazing, it SO beats Lake Ontario. Toronto is all flat, but Vancouver reaches into the mountains, it's really much more scenic than anything in Toronto or the GTA.

Vancouver wins, hands down!
It's got all the conveniences of a thriving, ethnically diverse city with the bonus of the greatest outdoor playground Mother Nature ever designed. There are hiking trails, skiing mountains, kayaking opportunities (we've got lots of rivers), fishing, and great camera spots, all just practically steps away from our back doors. And, of course, we have Vancouver's celebrated Stanley Park! As for the quality of air...You can see American mountains from Vancouver; that's how good the visibility is.
The weather's mild, the people friendly. Why else is Vancouver consistently being voted the most livable city in the world?
I've been to Toronto to visit family on two occasions, and I often felt like I'd choke from the big city smog and noise. People are always hurrying from once place to another, and the commute is simply terrible, with the public transit filled to bursting by people trying to get to and from their houses. Unless you like living with lots of people, and I mean LOTS (A fifth of all Canadians live in Toronto!), then I suggest that you visit the sights, shop, and be done with it. Yes, there is Niagara Falls, but that's more than an hour from the city core, and you can't really enjoy it with all the tourists swarming around you.

Having only visited on vacation, I would have to say Vancouver is much better. It has the mountains outside of town and the ocean. There are giant trees and the weather is milder in the winter. It appears to be cleaner with less pollution. The people are nice in both places.

I would much rather live in Vancouver, hands down it beats Toronto weather wise, and is much more aesthetically pleasing, ocean and beautiful mountains, and a stones throw from Whistler, and the scenic Fraser Valley and the Fraser Canyon!!

I've never been to the west coast, but it sounds so much nicer than Toronto. I mean, I'd go there to shop or something, but, I don't think I could ever live in Toronto.

I would live in Vancouver. It's like Big Bear City, CA and LA, CA combined.

I live in Toronto, but never have been to Vancouver, my sister lives there.
But since I live here, I'd say Toronto. But if I do get to go to Vancouver, I'll be the judge for myself which is better. ;)

Vancouver is beautiful. it has better weather and mountains/sea.
Toronto is rather bland, actually. Lake Ontario is okay, but it's not ocean.
