If you hate America and still would like to vote, who would you vote for in the 2008 election, and why?

I don't hate America, so maybe I shouldn't answer. But let me ask you: do you mean, hate America, the people? The place?
The Government?

If I hated the American people, I guess I'd vote for the person that would take away their freedoms and screw them royally.

If I hated the place, I guess I'd vote for the candidate with the worst environmental policies.

If I hated the government? Then I guess I'd vote Republican, because Republicans are always running against the government.

But I don't hate any of those things. I love Americans, though I wonder about their priorities and sense of reality. I love the country. It's one of the most beautiful and untrammeled places left on Earth. And I don't hate the government, I just want to do my best as a citizen to make sure it doesn't have too much power over all of our lives.

I don't know yet who I'm voting for, and I think only a fool would at this point.

Nobody that hates the United States is an American in my view, I don't call them Americans.

If I hated America, I would probably go with whoever I felt would **** up the country most irreparably. I haven't yet made up my mind who that is, however; far too many candidates to narrow it down now.

Wow, some people just can't get it through their thick skulls that hating the President is not the same thing as hating America. Some of us hate Bush because we love America and hate what he's doing to it. I don't know of any Americans who hate our country. They just want to see it in better hands.

I love America, I hate the people running the government.

The right wingers like Bill Orally and Rush who say that anyone who opposes the war or Bush hates America are the ones who hate America. They love their party or their ideology, but not America.

If I hated the United States, I would vote for a candidate that promised to follow the same policies that Bush is following: namely, increasing the deficit irresponsibly by fighting wars ineptly, while at the same time giving rich people a tax cut. This would widen the deficit even further and put our future generations in even greater peril.

Tough question. How about I hate most Americans, but I still love things about America. It's not an either/or thing. People who say they love America, "love it or leave it, pal" think on a child's level. An adult understanding involves the knowledge that nothing is perfect, and that you can love something, but still admit that it's flawed, even deeply flawed.

I have no idea who I'm going to vote for. At this point, I really don't care, because I don't really think anyone represents the American people anymore. Just the super-rich, corporations, special interest groups, and wealthy foreign investors.

I kinda like Obama, but he hasn't impressed me as of late.

Is it even possible for an American to hate America? Because if you think about it, by definition that person wouldn't be an American.

Let's be honest. Even the most hard-core leftists will say that they love America. However, they love what America could become if all of their policy agendas are put into place. It's a little bit like a man loves a woman when he says, "I love you, baby, but DA-AMN, you need to drop about fifty pounds!" If that isn't true love, I don't know what is.
