It has a twisted trunk and beautiful heart shaped leaves, I asked the homeowner and they were'nt sure what the name was, thanks for any help.

Either a catalpa or a red bud. There are several planted in the public right of way outside the building where I work.

take some leaves on a small branch to home depot or lowes garden department

does it get long bean type things on it
get the AUdubon society field guide to trees
check the library maybe

take small branch,with leaves, to a local tree nursery. they'll be able to tell you.
