I've just started this week. Only 200 books to start with part-time because i already have a job. I only got 70 books back, with 6 orders totalling £60. Does it get better? Any tips or suggestions much appreciated. I hope to turn it into a full-time job eventually. With maybe 6 rounds (1200 books). What can i expect to earn?

1) Don't leave it too long between dropping off books and picking up.... a couple of days is fine (most people who order do so as soon as they get the book) HOWEVER see later re: 'group' sales - you might want to give 2 pick-up dates ...

2) Don't buy too many books ... after the first few months, drop off books to people that have ordered in the past (or who alwways returns the book) first, pick them up quick and then 'recycle' the books to people that have not ordered / never returned books before .. (it's a good idea to have 'I called to pick up the book but you didn't leave it out for me, please leave it out for tomorrow' notes ..)

After a while you will be able to 'blacklist' those who never return books ... (and recycle books to those who have not ordered)

3) NEVER deliver product without getting paid for it .. if they DON'T have the money at the door, DON'T hand them the product ..

4) Some people will take the book into work and sell to their friends / workmates etc.
If you get big orders from one individual ask them if they would like you to drop 2 (or more) books and vist them twice (or more) to pick up orders ...

5) Sometimes there will be errors / short delivery / out of stock etc. ALWAYS give your NEWEST (and then your biggest) customers priority on what stock is available ..

If a customers FIRST order goes wrong, they may never deal with you again .. (of course your biggest customers need to be kept sweet, especially if they are collecting orders from work mates etc)

hi
my sister inlaw use to do it there is alot of going back and forward if the customers are not in but she managed to earn money on it you have to be presistant the best thing to do is start with your fellow workmates and friends and family then work your way around an estates keeping a record of where you left your books i would say the best time to get people in would be during the week in the evenings then when you deliver there goods NOT live it without getting payed for it first as some poeple will take advantage of this and you might not see the money
then you will have to pay for there goods that you so kindly left
remember be wise about it all
and all the best for the future
