Everytime I buy new clothes, they fade dramatically after the first wash or two. I've tried everything! Different detergents, wash on cold, tumble drying low, and nothing seems to work! What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix this problem?

Wash in cold water only. I use liquid instead of powder soap. Be sure to measure.

Buy better quality clothing from leading department stores such as J.C. Penney's, Macy's, Lands End, and etc.

I also make sure they are NOT one hundred percent cotton. I always buy polyester or a polyester blend.

Use cold water. Not warm water, not hot water. Only cold water. And use the quickest cycle that would do the job of washing clothes. Most clothes are not soiled. Put it on the quick washing cycle. Also, turn your clothes inside out. Woolite works for some fabrics and not others. For instance, synthetic fibres (such as MOST of your exercise clothes) cannot be washed with Woolite. It will destroy them.

It is usually hot water that fades clothes so the cold water thing should work. Is your rinse water set on cold also?
Maybe using too much detergent? Washing them too often?

Try Woolite for dark clothes. Use the cold water on a gentle cycle.

try soaking them in vinegar and water solution for a few minutes before washing them. that can make the colors stay in the fabric better.

OXY CLEAN, OXY CLEAN, OXY CLEAN! I use it in every load I wash, except for the ones with bleach because they are not to be used together. I have been very impressed with the brightness of my colors.
