Your exhaust vent is clogged. Your producing heat, but the humidity, vapor, water, is not being vented. Pull the dryer out, disconnect your vent, clear the build-up. Check the outside exit vent for a clog or bird nest. Hopefully this resolves the problem.

You want to clean all the vents in the system, use a vacuum cleaner to get hard to reach areas, or buy a lint brush for your dryer. For a lint trap brush - http://www.apwagner.com/scripts/realtime.live/InvLookup/PFdisp-part.p?prod=18001082

If not a dirty vent system, sounds like the electric heating element may be bad, sometimes they will partially heat up. Test it for continuity after a visual check to look for burning or bubbling of the nichrome element. Although, sometimes with a 220v electric dryer, the terminal block on the back inside can go bad. The other parts will run off of 110v, the element requires 220v though.
For the element, enter your model number to get a part number for your dryer. They ship same day as order received.

those Maytag dryers are notorious for having the blower wheel center post which is plastic to fail and slip. this causes bad air flow over the clothes and it takes twice as long for the clothes to dry. The part is cheap and easy to fix. just remove the front panel. Inspect the blower and clean the unit up good before replacing bad blower wheel.

There a vent hose on back. May need to remove and see if it clogged with Lint. If, it getting hot and Tumbles, it must be the vent clogged.
