You're asking two different questions. I will answer your initial one which is who is the better actor. While Kurt Russell is a nice guy and never hurts a movie, the easy choice is Jeff Bridges. Can play multiple types and has been pickier about the movies he chooses to act in.

Jeff Bridges is the better actor. There's nothing wrong with Kurt Russell, but Bridges is more versatile and has been nominated for more awards. He's also made more classic movies than Russell.
