I would say not necessarily no more sequels (after all, some people like the Godfather 2 better than the original), but no more excessive sequels like the scary movie franchise- scary movie 1-4, date movie, epic movie, blah blah blah.
and stop recycling the same things over and over again (especially romantic comedies) and make something original that we won't be expecting!

Original stories based on the classic characters. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, some of the most successful movies to date have classic identifiable characters that audiences identify with. Special effects have in my point of view taken over and any more than a few you forget about them and move on. I think Hollywood imagines we all have ADHD out here. Furthermore I like the idea that Lucas had using unknowns in the business.
I think the masses are also tired of going to a movie and it costing $100 US. Why does Sony and other companies need to make that kind of money on a Movie. Add to that the unwillingness to take a chance on a wining script, but passing it over for Herbie rides again. Take a risk Hollywood some of the best movies were regarded as potential flops.

Quit making so many f***ing sequels and re-makes, or movies based on old TV shows. If these movies needed to be made, it would've happened years ago. All these terrible sequels (Terminator 3, Die Hard 4) are just tainting the legacy of the older films. Not to mention all the sequels that are so bad they're just a joke (Son Of The Mask, Evan Almighty).
Also, I'd like to see better special effects. CG looks cheap and tacky when used by itself, it has to be used in moderation to look good. "Jurassic Park" is 14 years old and the effects in that movie (CG/animatronics) look way better than the CG-fest of today's movies.
Make the running times more appropriate for the movies. A fun movie of the comedy or adventure genre (Pirates Of The Carribbean, Bad Boys 2) does not need to run for 2 hours and 45 minutes. It should be more like an hour and a half or 2 hours max. Also, movies that should be a long epic have been reduced to 1 hour and 20 minutes (Terminator 3, Jurassic Park 3). They should quit slapping scripts together and come up with something long and worth-while.
I'm also tired of all these movies ripping off other movies...there's so many cliches now days its ridiculous. Let's see something original! Sorry for the rant, but I think Hollywood is at one of its lowest points to date.

They need to stop making remakes of old movies that nobody has even heard of. Same thing with comics. The exception was V for Vendetta (I don't think anybody knew about that comic before the movie came out), and it was a great movie.
They also need to stop making sequel after sequel after sequel. The Shrek series is getting old and tired in my opinion, there shouldn't even be a Shrek 4. Fantastic Four 2 was poor, Spiderman 3 was terrible, Pirates 3, so so.
Enough with the animated trash Disney and those other children's movies. There's nothing original about them anymore. The Bee Movie coming out is going to suck, I know it. The last great animated movie was probably The Incredibles.

In my opinion, the movies are no longer interesting because they are no longer original.
For instance, look at Shrek one. It was like a normal fairy tale, except with more humor, more originality (Fiona and the ogre curse, Female dragon, short prince charming, etc.) and an interesting plot. Great movie. Now, the second one was like an MTV reality show. Just...lacking in plot, and nothing we haven't seen on TV every day.
Sequels draw in money, i understand. However, movies shouldn't be all about money. I think its time Hollywood stepped away from making crummy movie adaptations of books and sequals and trilogies and started to make new, creative movies with better plots. Oh, and actors that fit the part, not necessarily the actor with the biggest name...

It's like the guilded age of film.
Stop overpaying actors and actresses.
Movies with lower budgets won't be "forced" to have big openings and won't have to appeal to EVERYONE.
Good writing and good directing will draw in the stars who by and large are desperate to get roles that are halfway decent and given that will work for a relative pittance.
When a movie isn't compelled to be a huge moneymaker they can make movies that have more of a niche market.
It could lead to lower ticket prices and more moviegoers.
People who are turned off by the blockbuster movie would be able to go out to more of an artsy movie without going to the crappiest movie theater in town.

I find there is a lack of originality. Sequels suck but they still make money. Nobody takes any chances anymore except independent films. Producers have such an investment in the pictures they don't want to do anything that might turn off movie goers. Hollywood needs to start taking chances again.

Better than what, better for whom? The better the writing, the better the actors, the better the stories (original or no), the better the movie. There are lot of really great movies, but they don't make much money, because the don't appeal to the biggest movie customer.
When revenues is the "reason" for a movie, they will be made for the movie goer with the most money. How many people saw "Saving Private Ryan"? How many saw the Star Wars movies?
Better for the actor? Better for men who want to see naked women? Or better for old ladies who want to see Paul Neuman?
