In the movie there is a girl that lives with her father and she does not know who her mother is. She is fasinated by a famous female singer (her mom and she doesnt know this) who one day comes to her house and tells her she is her mother.

...you're referring to the offbeat comedy/drama, "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael", from 1990, and starring Winona Ryder and Jeff Daniels; one of my old girlfriends dragged me to see this one, and surprisingly enough, I thought it was pretty good...

I don't know the answer, but I'm pretty sure it's not Welcome home Roxy Carmichael, as the girl (Winona Ryder) lived with Cher, not her father.
