Did Fred really die, or was he just sleeping or something?

Unfortunately, JKR really did kill off Fred Weasley, unnecessarily, I might add.

She wrote it so that I guess it wouldn't be so hard on the younger readers. But Fred was dead, not sleeping. I wish he would have been just knocked unconscious. But that would have been too much like doing right. JKR just had to kill him. And that really ticked me off.

Why is it that JKR only really killed off 2 bad people--Voldemort and Bellatrix?

It seems as if she let evil beat over good. Made me disgusted.

Fred did indeed die. The author was being poetic about how he looked. The same kind of thing happens at the end of the chapter where Dobby dies.

Yes Fred did really die he was on the floor in the great hall with the other dead people.When it said that his last laugh was still etched on his face i imagined his face with the expression of the evil clown.But to tel you the truth i only cried when hedwig died.Wierd huh

Sorry but yeah Fred's really gone, I wasn't happy to realise it cause him and George were always favourites of mine but yeah Fred's time is definetly up.

you should really finish the book, it makes everything better if you read it all, then go back and ask questions about what you read.

yes, he's dead, but it will of course make other characters stronger.... continue reading and you'll enjoy the end, right through the epilogue.

Yes. I found it especially sad because he had a twin brother. It must always be hard for a twin to lose their other half.
