Mattel recall - what is lead paint and what can it do if ingested? Know it is harmful but just wondered?

why Mattel has had to recall so many toys for this reason.. they do not elaborate on their website..

Also wondered why manufacturers would use this - is it cheaper or something?

lead paint is harmful, they get away with it if it is coated as it chips easily. If not coated, then it is basically a death trap as lead is a killer if digested into your system

Lead was always used in paint before they knew how harmful it is. It would be especially harmful when used on toys as kids tend to put things in there mouths.

"Lead is especially dangerous for children. A child who swallows large amounts of lead may develop anemia, severe stomachache, muscle weakness and brain damage. Even low levels of lead are linked to lower IQ scores. "

Make sure you check toys and only buy products manufactured in Europe or North America.

Lead paint used to be used on lots of stuff, and our drinking water came through lead pipes.

They gradually got rid of the above, around the time that ADHD and autism became more prevalent.

very dangerous for children as they put toys in their mouths, also just touching the lead painted toys can be harmful,digesting lead paint can cause brain damage

lead is the broken down matter of nuclear molecules
