There is an old home remedy that I swear worked in our house. Find a few hedge apples and place them around the house. Supposedly they repel spiders. Don't know why or how but it seriously worked in my home.

I live in what might be considered the most spider populated place in the u.s. -missouri! The best advice given by the best exterminators is that no spray will solve an infestation or obvious occupation. If they say they can-they are outright lieing-just to seperate you from your money! Thats not to say you don't have an effective way to control the problem. The first settlers learned quickly how to manage them without destroying them-it's a simple thing to do. Simply place many open glass jars and such allong the walls and corners of your rooms. The idea is that the spiders will eventually want to explore the interior of these vessels and once they go in they can't climb out. These glass jars must be very clean on the interior (and dry) to work effectively. This strategy has worked to perfection for me for all the time I've utilized it. You probably wonder what to do with the spiders and what I do is take them out to a wooded, rural area and release them. They are such a benefit to the overall balance of nature.

I use Riddex, a plug in unit that sends a electronic pulse through your walls, spiders leave. You can get a similar product from Ace hardware. For more ideas, go to the top of the yahoo/answers page, and in the search box type in, get rid of spiders, click search, scroll down.
Good Luck!

Other than killing them, there are two options that I know of. You can buy an electronic bug repellant device that only sort-of works. See http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&search-alias=garden&field-keywords=electronic%20insect%20repellent&page=1
Or you can use an bug spray to get rid of all of the other bugs and eventually when the spiders don't have any food they should leave you alone.

I know you can get spider catching devices, but have never heard of a repellent.

I feel for you! I'm so scared of bugs that I can't even kill them. Not that I have mercy, I'm just too scared. My solution? I got a pitbull. LOL! Not FOR the bugs, but a great benefit was when he saw how freaked out I was by them he just took care of the problem. Now all I have to do is say bug and he's right on it. :)

Well to get rid of them you are going to have to kill them otherwise they breed and breed and you have more! You can try asking them politely to leave but that probably won't work!!
Try a fogger set a couple off in your house. Please read the directions!! I use these twice a year and they really work. Also there is a bug spray that you put around the perimeter of your house (inside and outside) that works too. Go to you local harware store and ask about these products...Good luck!!

Learn to love them. They aren't bad once you get to know them.
I can't kill a spider, it's too cruel.
If you really can't stand them, place conkers around your house, on windowsills and on the floor in the corners of each room. For some reason it keeps them out.

i'm not sure but I recently bought some spider spray and it barely worked at all, so don't waste your money on that. I wish you good luck!
