I'd only mix 5 pounds of it in my 46 gallon saltwater aquarium.

You can, but make sure you clean it very thoroughly before putting it in there.

You CAN... nobody is stopping you, but you shouldn't. I wouldn't as it has unwanted minerals and different bacteria. You can buy sand at the pet store, which will be fine for the fish. I wouldn't ruin the investment of a 46 gallon saltwater tank just for 5 pounds of sand! Plus you shouldn't get it from the beach. Its different.

Beach sand is fine to add with any marine substrate. In fact, the shrimps and smaller invertebrates will like to sift through it for ditreous. Let the sand settle on the bottom naturally. Move anemones out of the way first so that none drops on them. Would be a good idea to add some crushed coral or aragonite loosely over the sand.
Edit:If this is sand you previously collected and is thoroughly dry.

If you dive or snorkel, get the sand from out a ways in the water. The sand on beaches and close to the beach will have gas and other pollutants from boats and such in it. I used to live in Florida, and thought that would be an easy and cheap way to get sand as well :) Not worth the risk, especially considering how expensive SW fish are....

why would you? if you are just trying to seed the tank with some live sand ten you can just buy a few lbs of live sand for pretty cheap. Taking it from the beach has a greater risk of introducing parasite and disease into the the tank. Buy some live sand and you will be much better off.

It is not recommended to use sand from the beach in your aquarium. Beach sand can be tainted with all sorts of other things.

You can purchase aquarium sand from your local pet store. It's not gravel, it's actually sand.

That is the safer way to go.

I guess you can use it. But i would stick to pebbles. Think of all the muddy sand u would have to get out of it to clean it. and all the dust clouds n the water
