Yes, there is still racism. Why do you think there is such a focus on immigrants coming from Central and South American countries than from European countries?

Also, racial profiling is alive and well in the world. Arab American profiling has definitely seen a giant spike since 9/11 a lot of people getting harassed over their ancestry =(

Race is a social institution, and as such, it is linked with inequalities in other social institutions such as gender, national origin, class, etc.

The inequalities are still very alive in all of these and they form quite a network of hierarchies which dehumanize and harm many people.

Institutionalized racism is hard to overcome. It is important that we not ignore it, but that we search it out and get rid of it.

Well there is definitely still racism and it is more than "so past 3 centuries ago." Just look at Arab and Jewish relations. I don't think that is going to be simmering down anytime soon and it has been going on for as long as oral and written history has existed.

I'm a military brat of a military brat. I grew up in culturally rich neighborhoods. We kids played with each other and race never was an issue between us, or as far as we knew, our parents. I honsetly believed this WAS the American experience.
I didn't know racism really existed until I entered the civillian side of life and frankly it stinks!

The KKK still exists. Racism will always exist. There are still neo-nazis and and everything. You're right, it is uncalled for, and most of it is just ignorant, but it will always be there. All we can really do is try to spread tolerance and hope that with time it will get better and better. Be a model for others and love people for who they are, not because of their sexual orientation, color of their skin, or religion.

I have thrown eggs because I'm Asian.
I have been written down "White power" to the name tag on the downstairs of my apartment.
I have called yellow monkey.
I have been told I'm too dirty to get into a swimming pool because my skin isn't White enough.

I love people though.

I feel like it's getting better in the world, but it's very far from it not being in the world, unfortunately.
