Start introducing a sippy cup about 6 months, then gradually have it more available than a bottle when 10 months. By 12 months fill his/her bottle with water and only water, and the sippy cup for milk and juice. Your baby will learn that the 'fun stuff' is in the sippy cup and make that choice his/herself. Then THROW AWAY - PUT AWAY - HIDE every bottle in your house!! Once they see it again, they'll want it again.

If you notice that you child can hold their bottle without your help or that they are interested in your cup rather than their bottle. Then it is time to start introducing them to a sippy cup.
I think 9 or 10 months old is a good to stop a the child from using their bottle. My daughter was about 10 months old. I had noticed she wanted to drink from my cup a lot and that she would throw her bottle across the room a lot.
I wish you luck!

Some of the books suggest to start weaning your child @ 1 year. I've started introducing the sippy cup to my daughter @ 4 months. It doesn't replace the bottle of course, but she's getting used to it, hoping it'll make the weaning process easier @ 1 year.

One year old is the recommended age to have the child on sippy cups & no bottles.
Begin to teach your infant to drink from a sippy cup at six months of age, and plan to wean from the bottle completely at 12 to 14 months.

there is no real answer to this...although a toddler bith a bottle is rather unsightly. My son dropped his bottle shortly after his first birthday.
It kinda all depends on your baby. He will give you clues as to when enough is enough. Just make sure not to let him keep to too long. I feel that age two is far too long to still be sucking on a bottle. There are soft nippled cuppies that can make the transition easier...I think they are made by Nuby...look into it)
Good luck

Mine stopped at about 8 months but only because he had a dreadful cold and found a cup much easier!
Some still have a bottle of milk up until around 4. Its good for them and helps them sleep. Children vary!!

You want to try to wean them from the bottle around their first birthday.
Children who hang on to their bottles later than their first birthday are at an increased risk for tooth decay.

my son's doctor told me to take him off the bottle at his 1 year checkup. I just never gave it back to him. He never noticed, just took his sippy cups.

1-2 years i guess. 3 years is a bit too far though, so be careful...as I babysat a girl of three years old, and she still had a bottle. I guess it was her comfort object, and she always wanted milk in it.
