I know your looking for someone to say the Flames but I'm going with the Avalanche.

They were a great team last year and they improved in the offseason and if their young players step up(Stastny, Wolski..) I think they can win their division.

I then have the Flames, Canucks, Wild, and Oilers.

I guess Colorado is the trendy pick right now having gotten Hannan and Smyth, but I don't think anyone can win this thing without top-tier goaltending. It is a must. That makes it up between Vancouver and Calgary. Both teams may have trouble scoring, but Calgary has better defense by a mile and a little more scoring balance. Having Jerome Iginla sure doesn't hurt, either. I don't mean to sound like I am sucking up, but I have to go with the Flames. Canucks will be second. Avalanche and Wild will fight for third. Sorry, Oiler fans.

I have to say the Edmonton Oilers. They had the best off season by far, and they are pretty much set to be a very good team for at least a few years. They picked up two of the top ten FA defensemen in Suray, and Pitkanen, and they got some scoring in Penner, although I think they overpaid, by giving up the draft picks. Plus, they were able to add alot of depth to their lineup with the additions of some key role players. I think that as long as Jussi plays good in net, they have a shot at the northwest, and the cup too.

I'm gonna support the Flames on this one-mostly because they're MY team too! lol I think that if Keenan can beat (literally if he has to! hahaha) them into shape to get them winning on the road there's no reason we can't be a really good contender. So yeah . . .I am absolutely putting all my hopes on the Flames.

I also agree with superior goaltending being a reason to get anywhere and with Kipper . . . well, need I say more?

My second choice would be the Canucks . . .but its GOING TO BE the Flames!

I go with the defending champs the Vancouver Canucknuckleheads. Best D and Best goalie in the division. Think they can be a top 4 team if they can move a dman for a scoring threat.

well, it WON'T be the wild or oilers.

probly be the Avs, but canucks and flames are darkhorses.

avs got 2 key acquisitions to their roster, and are just plain hungry. calgary and nucks didn't lose too much ground.

btw, eyespy, the question was about this coming year. not 2 years down the road. nice try on the shameless plug for the leafs, who still have a few things to figure out before they're back on top again.

Probably the Avalanche or the Flames

Because out of the teams in the Northwest, they have improved the most/ not lost any talent.

I'm gonna go with the Canucks because of Loungo and Morrison. The Wild have no chance.

Edmonton Oilers!! They got a strong D and now have a decent forward line up. We can beat every team on that list.
