James Patterson has written some novels title Maximum Ride and with various subtitles. They are about the Angel Experiment that he described in two other books "Where the wind Blows " and the Lake House. I'm sure that these books will get you into it real quick.

Try the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman. There are three books, the Golden Compass, the Subtle Knife, and the Amber Spyglass. They have a great female lead character, and they're fantasy. The first movie comes out this December.

I agree with Watership Down & LOTR but you may want to start with The Hobbit. Piers Anthony has serveral very good series of stories out. I like The Incarnations of Immortality series but the Xanth series is good for lighter reading. For dragons try Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern series.

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, and a short review of each book.
I hope this helps.

you might have already read what I'd suggest. go to the library and ask for help there or search on amazon or barnes and noble for books to read. I love Anne McCaffery. Robert Jordan, Orson Scott Card, Barbara Zimmer Bradley, there are loads!

I can recommend Douglas Adams. You also might like the B.O.f.H, I have posted the link below. It's not exactly science fiction, but more science satire ;)
