No AV or Firewall is 100%. When you have one installed you need to make sure that it is updated DAILY.
To get rid of a nasty virus you need to really restore the system back to the original state.
Go to www.pctoolslcom and get the free av and firewall.
Scan your system and see if it can be repaired, if not look for the install disks.
If a system becomes laden with viruses, I always recommend a reformat and reinstall. If you are going to go through this exercise then I also recommend looking for Norton GHOST. You can usually get it free after rebate. It allows you to take a snapshot of the system in a pristine state, from which you can restore your system at a later date id necessary. This takes a few min instead of the hours long taks of reformatting, reinstalling, and running the updates.

Hi,
Do this:
Disable system restore if u know how to though not neccessary.
Visit:
http://onecare.live.com
Run their free safety scan from Microsoft.
It removes all viruses, trojans, spyware, registry errors, bad installs and covers up security vulnerabilities and any other problem for free. Its the best out there for online security, it will make the pc as good as new.
Now remove all other security softwares and download AVG.

The process for cleaning every virus is different. If you can post (or Google) the name of the virus, you should be able to get an answer.

Most viruses can be cleaned by a standard virus scanners. Have your friends go to http://download.com and get AVG Free (they have both a free and paid version - so get the free one) and try running it. Hopefully it will clean the virus.

If not, post the name of the virus....

The most effective way to remove malware is to follow this guide I've written, it works 100% of the time. It's a rather long process but I use it on customers system weekly and I have great success with it. I highly recommend NOD32 antivirus!

First of all if she knew her security system wasn't working she should not have downloaded anything.

If you contact me on my profile page and tell me what program she has ..windows etc , what security she has and if any at all what virus protection I can help her.

she needs to get to the comp store and buy McAfee , install it and run a virus check.

If she wants to contact me hersef my email is angela-bennett@email.com .

One important thing to tell her is
NEVER EVER DOWNLOAD VIRIS PROGRAMS ON THE INTERNET.
