This is my 3rd baby and can't believe I'm asking this. Today I'm 37wks and during my vaginal exam my MW said that my cervix is anterior and soft. Is this a good indication my body is getting ready for labor...?

Yes but don't get your hopes up. It could still be a few more weeks. Are you dialated at all yet? Again even if you are, it may be a while. I would think it would be soon. Try not to obsess over it (I know, easier said than done). Lots of walking, lots of sex, and hopefully you will have a newborn by the weekend!

yes normally, i am preggo with my 4th and at 27 weeks i went into the hospital and they told me my cervix was EXTREMELY soft and 50% thinned out (effaced) and i am now 33 weeks, so that was 6 weeks ago! I have not been checked since because they do not want to stimulate my cervix for me to dilate further so early.

Yes. Softening of the cervix is a common sign that your body is preparing itself for labor.

Yes but it still can be a while before baby comes because you still have to dilate and the baby needs to drop into your pelvis yet etc. Congratulations and Good Luck you are almost holding that beautiful baby!

yes it is, your cervix will start to soften in preperation for it to dialate anywhere between 2 weeks and a couple hours before the commencement of labor

Yes but it could be days, to weeks before the baby comes. Hold in there and good luck.

Yes, it means you are effacing. I was 100% effaced for 2 weeks before going into labor.
