That's very sweet of him!

Ask him if he can make us a cookout with slaw, fruit salad, fresh rolls, and an orange chiffon pie.

Yeah well you are wrong. Humans are omnivores, just like bears, monkeys, some fish and some bird species. ANYTHING can look like food to us because we have the ability to choose what we want to eat. EDIT: I kind of found your question interesting and wanted to make another observation. Lions only "go into a blood thirsty mode" when they are hungry. I have seen many nature films on wildlife with a pride of lions lounging near a herd of wild cattle and none died that day because the lions had gorged on a kill either earlier or the day before and wouldn't be hunting again until later. Actually, farmers who grow small amounts of animals DO view the animals as food and select the breed of chicken they raise toward that end. I never raised leghorns, even though they are superior egg layers, I always chose a dual purpose chicken, one whos body gets big fast and AND lays eggs as I butchered the chickens for food. Or they select the nicest male calf in the spring and single him out for butchering that coming fall. Happens all the time. Like I said, we are omnivores. That gives us the ability to select WHAT we prefer to eat.
