All you have to do is read the Old Testament. When Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are prevalent in a society, there is little concept of true benevolence left because the depiction of Divinity is also violent and brutal.

they have killed more than the Europeans, this century alone.

Well, actually, the US is a European power. It does not behave like an American country and its people are noticeably not native to America. So the US is really a European Empire.

Yea.. and it murders millions just like the worst empires.

Happy Trees:

Let's do ask those 'native Americans', shall we? As one with ancestors in that group, I can say that if you want to speak to brutality and violence, the 'native Americans'..I put them in quotes because there's nothing 'native' about my ancestors. They immigrated here just like your ancestors, just a little earlier...were some of the most brutal and violent societies to ever exist on the continent. Their entire life was spent trying to eliminate entire opposing tribes, every man, woman and child...at least the ones they didn't capture and enslave. The only reason that some were cooperative with the Europeans when they got here was because they recognized superior technology that they couldn't compete with. They were like the French who cooperated with the invading Nazis to save their own skin. The rest were at war with and were defeated by the Europeans and that superior technology.

I respect my ancestors and what they were, but please. You've been watching too many Hollywood movies. My ancestors were not victims and they certainly weren't the idyllically peaceful little brown brothers you seem to think they were. The public school system has failed you Little Tree. Seek knowledge.

No that's not right, if you'll take a look at a chart of violence and immorality rates, about the time we took the Bible, praying, and the ten commandments out of our schools, all of these statistics skyrocketed, we took morality out of where we get influenced almost the most, our educational system, that is why the U.S. is so "brutal and violent," however, that's nothing compared to countries like Iraq, North Korea, and China.

It's only a mystery of perception. What is violent and brutal, and what merely unfortunate, but justified depends on the person evaluating events.

To a patriotic American, 9/11 looked violent, brutal, and senseless. To a fanatical Islamist, it looked like a glorious victory against an irredeemably evil enemy who richly deserved it. To the American, the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq looked like restrained military action in response to the deadly terrorist attacks and the rising movement behind them. To the Islamist, they looked like genocidal assaults on the Ummah, initiated by the Devil and his hand-picked luitenants in Israel and America.

You solved it, the US is a terrible nation because of the Old Testament. Are you even trying? The US is not even brutal and violent, the Middle East and China are way worse, to name a few.

And here I thought you were going to blame it on Ozzy Osborne, and the NFL, how stupid of me.

We're brutal and violent? Go talk to the Taliban. Go talk to the folks in Rhuanda and Darfur.

We're so brutal and violent it takes years (if ever) to carry out the execution of a convicted killer. Folks like won't even let us get rid of trash!

Could you please explain where the USA has been brutal and violent?

Your assumption then is if the libs had it there way and religion was completely removed from all public venues, the world would be a peaceful place?!?

It is unfotunate that your ignorance is only trumped by your obvious lack of any historical knowledge.

Let's start with the founding of this country. Ask the Native Americans first, then let's go from there, ok?
