Viewers will say they want investing ideas and/or want to stay informed, but I think the main reason is entertainment and stimulation. Successful day-traders don't have time to watch TV during the day, and they don't get their ideas from CNBC. Successful short-term traders don't get their ideas from TV either. Successful long-term investors don't look for a lot of ideas and they don't want a flood of information. That leaves losers and people who are idly curious about the market watching CNBC, plus some real investors who watch it for a break just like other people watch comedies.

Better you should NOT watch it -- the past few days would only upset you.
BUT someday when the market is closed (not on a weekend) they have some very educational shows on. Watch it then
