I don't mean between charges. I mean what is the life of the battery itself. I have a basic model without video capacity.

It depends on the battery but your its a general industry standard for it to last at least 2 years. of course you're going to have the duds and the people who dont realize that they need to let their battery die completely before they charge it for the first time (it will dramatically lessen the life of your battery if you dont). but 2 years is the general standard

I would say a good few years, mine has lasted more than three years. This depends on the quality of the battery too, I would be stating on genuine batteries.

Which battery chemistry do you have? NiMH? Li-Ion? NiMH batteries have an approx 500-1000 charge/discharge cycle lifespan. Li-ion batteries have a 300-500 charge/discharge cycle lifespan. However, Li-ion batteries have a time limit of approximately two - three years from date of manufacture no matter the amount of charge/discharge cycles.
