he already has.
He's taking over the 7th and 8th innings, and Torre will use him more & more (now that he's so WELL received by the media & fans) -- that's what Torre does/is, a "media manager". He'll assume the role that Farnsworth or Vizcaino should have, right now as the bridge to Mariano... something like Gordon had a few years ago..
And, he's BETTER than a young Roger Clemens, at his age -- but, he's not yet a starter.. he's already got Clemens' size (without the roid whispers). The Yanks may use him, to negotiate with Mariano Rivera's contract after the season -- or release Mariano and make him 'Joba the Closa'??? I'd rather Joba start games - because he's incredible.. and they can always release Mussina, who's about done.

Anybody who can throw a 100 mph fastball and an 88 mph slider is going to help his team, and he has obviously helped the Yankees a good deal despite only pitching 5 innings up to this point. I wouldn't be surprised if Chamberlain remained in a set-up role next year, but we will have to wait and see what the Yankees do with Mariano and the other pitching moves they make before we can get a better idea of Chamberlain's future.

Yeah, as long as teams don't catch on to him ALWAYS throwing the slider when he gets 2 strikes. Yeah its gutsy on 3-2, but scouts are gonna pick up on that quick. I don't know why they want to eventually make him a starter? He sets up perfectly to be a closer, brings heat and has two very good pitches. He seems to have a closer's mentality too; why try to give him a 3rd pitch, let him take over for Mo by mid '08 or start of '09 (hell he has the best closer ever to learn from, when else would you get such an opportunity)?

Joba is the man...he has great stuff and high intensity... he has already helped the yanks in that his existence has helped get rid of Proctor and Meyers, and allows the Yanks to bury Farnsworth in mop up duty... no one knows how long Mo has left, but I think this kids future is as Clemen's replacement next season, enter Ian Kennedy as setup man

If he keeps up what he has been doing he will help the yankees. The yankees hitting is amazing, especially right now, but what they really need are some solid pitchers and hopefully he can be that. I'm not sure what his future will be, but whatever they may need he will probably become be it a starter, relief, or closer.

the bridge to mariano is important. but he is a starter and eventually the Yankees will have to use him in that roll. The Yankees need to start the search for Mariano's successor, this guy could be it but is he willing to be the next Papelbon. Only time will tell, but he is definately a keeper.

I think he already has and will continue to. He should be on the Yankees for a while because I doubt they trade him, and he probably will eventually become a starter.
Is it pronounce Joe-buh or Job-uh

This season he may be the setup guy reliever but next season he's one of the Studs in the rotation along with Philip Hughes.

Yes he will and has. He's a smart kid with a great slider and will do good things for the team down the stretch.
