I need to write a paper for school on "The Scarlet letter". I can not remember if or how Hester influenced her own child, as the child becomes a member of the closed society. if you could give me a little bit of info please it would help.

Symbolically, Pearl is the embodiment of the scarlet that Hester wears on her breast. Poor Pearl even wears a dress of the same colors. However, the little girl is a free spirit who never quite fits in with the Puritan lifestyle and morés. Hester loved her child so much that she lived on the outskirts of town so as to guide the her precious, precocious child, keep her safe and show her she is loved despite the fact the she is a representation of Hester's adultery.

You didn't read the novel obviously...

Where is there school in session, in mid-August?

"The Scarlet Letter" isn't a college aged novel, so you must be in high school...but where?
