Yes. MTV invented the reality show, I think, with "The Real World", but even before that, it started going downhill when they replaced broadcasting Music Videos with a game show called "Remote Control".

MTV is really a misnomer now. It's not Music Television at all anymore, but it IS part of the powerful Viacom network. This network tells its advertisers that they can actually shape and form the opinions of their audience. Any media outlet that can successfully do this should be feared and opposed.

I do remember gathering with friends in the early 80's to watch the "Thriller" video.

The decline began around mid-1990. After 1992 MTV was just a waste of time.

When it started it was great. Great 80's music videos 24/7 with JJ Jackson, Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, Martha Quinn and Alan Hunter. A lot of people were smiling in those videos too...

MTV was great right up until they started MTV Raps. After that it went down hill and became a teenybopper station

I agree, why do they still call it MTV? Music Television. There is no music. MTV revolutionized our ability to enjoy or favorite artists. Now it is crap TV. No music, no video's. Shame on them, they could have kept the video's and music news and started a new channel for their "reality" TV.

a procedures and away, the suitable video must be handle Me by utilising A-Ha. Others have been good, yet this one blew all of them away (and, even interior the age of entire digital animation, nonetheless rules the %.). yet there have been different good video clips from cinematography and/or ingenious perspectives, like "Billie Jean" by utilising Michael Jackson with the gentle-up street tiles, or any of Peter Gabriel's cloth, like "Sledgehammer" with the provide up-action animation. some weren't considered as good (like Rio by utilising Duran Duran or something by utilising Adam Ant), yet have been nonetheless good track... so the video did not remember (who might desire to fairly seem on the television on a similar time as dancing around the abode :) ). and then there have been the extra "exciting" video clips, a minimum of from the perspective of a teenager teenager boy, like "She's a splendor" by utilising the Tubes, "i choose Your intercourse" by utilising George Michael, and almost each and every thing that Madonna placed out. BTW, did you pay attention that MTV productions is attempting to commence a third track video channel? one that fairly performs video clips and does not have ANY interest shows, fact television or something different than track video clips? it will be like leaping lower back in time by utilising twenty years! :)

Funny, I just said that in another question. It does suck now and has for years. They hardly play music videos and when they do it's rap. No offense to y'all who like rap, I just miss the days of the 80's when they played Van Halen and Ratt and Madonna etc. - and not stupid shows about nothing.
