Abortion is a terrible thing. Every time a potential mother decides not to have a baby is tragic, and not to mention morally wrong, in my opinion.
However, I do believe that my position is just that, an opinion. My opinion is based on my religions up-bringing and my current position in life.
If you disagree, you have a right to.
I hate the politics of this issue. Next time a person calls me pro-abortion I am going to call them anti-freedom or pro-theocracy.
In the next stupid presidential debate I hope the question is asked, “If president, would you outlaw abortion” that would cause some troubled candidates.
Thanks for reading, What do you think?

WOW, heated topic. Thanks everyone.
I know presidents don’t make laws. Its an “If” question.
I have two more things:
I am not sure abortion is murder, but, in a way, it is.
So, you decide for yourself.
Politics of the day, seem to rule, pro-lifers (abortion illegal) are very outspoken and politicians seem to follow that. But, when push comes to shove, I think most suck up presidential candidates will agree, given the popularity of abortion, it should not be illegal. Political pandering, on clearly social issues, upsets me.
Peace!

I am Pro Life, but Roe v. Wade has kinda settled the legal argument. A women's rights supersede the rights of the fetus. The president can't change that.
It is really a moral issue and I'm not sure I want the government trying to legislate morality. The question shouldn't be put to the next president, because it isn't relevant.

You are entitle to it as far as agreeing with it my stance is a little different.
I don't want abortion to be totally outlaw however there should be some reasonable restriction on it.
1) A minor should have their parent or a judge or some adult in on her desicion to have an abortion. A minor can't even have their ear's pierced without a parent's premission in a matter of life and death a minor still needs that adult supervision.
2) The mother should be informed all all the alternatives and inform of possible side effects.
Than given 24 hours to think over.
3) When the fetus is viable and can live outside the womb on their own. If the mother has decided on abortion must prove there very serious health risk if she was to deliever the baby. Also a 2 doctors must agree there is a serious health risk to the mother and the fetus before abortion is to be carried out.
4) If there are charges of rape or something crime contected to the pregancy charges have to be filed by the mother or the clinic before abortion is carried out.
5) First abortion no questions ask unless any of the above criteria have been meet. On the second abortion still no questions but the tubes are tied and the mother is sterilized.
6) Sex education should be taught in the schools along with forms of birth control & abortion. Abortion is not taught as a form of birth control. With the education the effectness of each form and the chance of getting STDs. The education will have the most current and accurate form of medical information.
7) For those who don't want abortions at all are to sign up for adoptions for any "unwanted" pregancies. The birth mother will have no access to the records tell the child turns 18.
People who think abortion is all or nothing don't do anything to help find a solution all they do is add fuel to the fire.
So here is my suggestion.

I don't really understand the argument from the pro-life. Calling an abortion murder is the same as say having a cancerous tumor removed is murder. both could not survive with out the host.
You do not abort a baby and very rarely even a fetus (8 weeks). A blastocyst, group of cells, are usually removed

I am pro life but someone being pro choice doesn't turn me into a crazy person. I think a lot of the pro life folks are mostly pissed off about their tax dollars going to something they don't believe in. It is more of a social spending issue than a moral one. They lump in it with welfare. Face it, if it becomes illegal it will still go on. The rich will bribe a doctor, the poor will have it done in a back alley somewhere.

This is not a black & white issue of right or wrong. & you can't compare all cases equally, as the circumstances vary.
However like all social issues laws will not change things, but education. I think educating people on the use of contraceptives & practicing safe sex will be a good start.
It is my opinion that providing legal means to have an abortion is the only way to ensure it is performed safe & properly to those who choose to have it done.

I am right there with you!
I think that it should be kept legal for regulation purposes. Making it against the law isn't going to stop it (drugs, speeding, illegally entering this nation, etc). By taking this position, I am not stating that I would run out and have an abortion. Nor am I stating that everyone should go out and have sex, because if they get pregnant, they can run right out to the local abortion clinic and get one in an hour. Hell, I am not even stating that I approve of the procedure.
I DO think it is a personal decision, and unless I am the one pregnant, I have no business in telling someone what to do.

You seem to be making the mistake of following the Constitution; that it is a personal opinion and choice. Most people who disagree with abortion don't like that.

I agree with many of your points. Understand the pres cannot outlaw abortion, it isn't part of his power. He does appoint the Supreme Court, but the one or two he appoints cannot overturn the current ruling on the books.
Finally, I do not believe the constitution gives the Federal government any say in this issue, I believe it is a State issue. As a state issue, that is where the pro-choice fight needs to be held.

keep in mind when chief justice black-death said that women could kill their children in this country it was "just an opinion" as well, an opinion that has cost over 42,000,000 American lives, that million by the way. If there is anything worth fighting for it is life. how many DR. Brain surgeons, great musicians, Beethoven, chubby checkers, Elvis's, How many great leaders like Lincoln, Roosevelt's,, how many have been ground up and flushed down the drain, because we keep quite.

I partially agree. . .I think abortion is terrible, but I do NOT think that it should be illegal. There are numerous reasons, justified and not, that women get abortions that I will not go into now.
If you hate the politics of it, why would you want it brought up in the presidential debates?
