Where would be the the cheapest place to get one. I had planned on buying the ring here, but since my plans changed and I'm leaving in about 10 days, I don't think I'm gonna have time to order the one I wanted off the internet. My fiance doesn't like yellow gold and doesn't want anything fancy.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sarah T., I didn't know white gold was forbidden too. Thanks Lou, I would prefer platinum plated sterling silver. That is what I originally planned on buying here in the states.

You can get a silver ring for about $10, maybe less if you haggle with the pricing. I am not sure about white gold or platinum, but the prices are awesome there compared to the US. Another thought may be titanium, but you must know the exact size, as it cannot be resized (that's what my husband has and I got it for about $50 in the States). Jewelry is cheap in Morocco and from what I see the quality is very good, so shop and enjoy!

I am not sure what city you are going but you will not have a hard time finding a good place to buy the ring, just ask your husband's family, most likely they will have a shop where they usually get stuff. Like said before, due to religious reason, your husband will probably prefer a silver ring, I really can't remember how much my husband's cost, but it is cheap. Also it is common in Morocco to find platinum rings, although I am not sure they are really platinum, I suspect they are platinum plated or something like that. Anyway, just to give you an idea of price, a wedding band of platinum and cubic zirconia go for about US$100 and up (at least was the price a few years back when during one of my pregnancies I was so swollen mine wouldn't fit so my husband got me one to wear during pregnancy)

My husband's wedding band is made of Tungsten, which is a silver looking metal that never scratches. He wears it nonstop and to the gym and barbells and stuff scrape against it all the time - but it still looks brand new! It's a simple but very wide band - anyone can see if from across the room. I do not believe that the man and woman's bands should match or be part of set. My wedding band is half an inch of tiny diamonds in white gold.

Fez is right about men not wearing gold. It is forbidden in Islam whether it is yellow or white gold. Look for silver, which is also available here but tell them you want silver not white gold, that it is for a man. There are gold/silver shops all over the place and you shouldn't have a problem finding one. Just ask your fiance's mother to suggest one she knows is reputable. Right now I think it is running about 120 dirham/gram.
A solid platinum, plain men's band will run you near $1000.
Cindy is smokin' something and proven she has never left Chicago. The quality of gold abroad is often better than what you can buy retail in the USA.

Muslim men cannot wear gold (I think it's just yellow gold but not sure) or silk.
There are tons of places to get it there. I'm not familiar with chains there and although I have guide books with a few names in them I wouldn't necessarily go to those places.
I have 18k gold filled (I think. I KNOW they are NOT plated) rings for myself and I know they only cost at least few hundred -I don't remember how much he told me. I had to get them fixed here in the us because my finger was slammed in a door and bent the ring and the jeweler (he makes rings himself) was very impressed with the ring. :)
Don't worry about the price. It'll be cheaper than what you find here.
Cindy B doesn't know what she is talking about when it comes to jewelery in Morocco. Jewelery is great over there and why is it, like Sarah said, you can find great 18k gold there in a third world country (for relatively cheap) but you can hardly find it here?
edit: My husband just got a simple silver band over there but he lost it. I already called him at work a couple of times today so I don't want to bug him now about the price LOL. He lost it at some point and then got another and lost it...LOL But he is a mechanic and he can't wear it at work anyway...and he is usually at work. I plan on buying one for him as a gift (more for ME than for him really) once he ends his mechanics career. ;-)
Oh, and Sarah is right. Moroccan women have a wealth of knowledge on tons of things. They also know how to bargain and will do it for you. You're not going to be a tourist -- you are marrying a Moroccan and you will be back!! ;P

The cost of gold changes daily. . . .know that day's price and the purity of what you buy IE., 18kt or 9kt and the weight. Do the math by multiplying: purity/24 X grams(your ring) / 28.4 (grams to the ounce). The rest of the price would be the Moroccan vendor's mark up and labor cost which you can negotiate or bargain for. . . .about 15%.
Oh yes there is an art in negotiating and then watch out, they know you are a tourist and will not be back. . . .so they sell you a plated piece of jewellery. Let the buyer beware!.!.!

You will probably get ripped off, buy one here. Unless you are a jewerly expert, I would go to a jewerly chain or something. I live in Chicago, and there is a place calls Diamond Row, they have quality jewlery for good prices.
Good luck.
