It Turns out they had DOOMSAYERS back in 1922 trying to scare the hell out of gulible non-thinkers!

"D.C. resident John Lockwood was conducting research at the Library of Congress and came across an intriguing Page 2 headline in the Nov. 2, 1922 edition of The Washington Post: "Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt."

The 1922 article, obtained by Inside the Beltway, goes on to mention "great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones," and "at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared."

Can someone deploy Michael J. Fox's "Back to the Future" car and send Al Gore on a serious Journey?

I don't see any "fear", as some posters imply. Penelope says it like it is, and calls BS where she sees it. I respect that.

And to the poster who insinuates that 60-80 (hell, I will give you an even 100) years of the burgeoning industrial revolution was enough to melt icebergs and glaciers (naturally fluctuating formations) almost 100 years ago- GET A GRIP! Keep mooning over your beloved hockey stick graphs, and go watch Gores docuganda flick and The Day After Tomorrow back to back again. For the thousanth time.

Human-caused "climate change" does not exist. Pollution control at a local level is a good thing for communities. Changing light bulbs to "save the planet" is an asinine pursuit.

"Global warming" does exist. Current temperatures are higher than past norms.

*BUT*...the cause of this change in average temperatures has not been proven..by anybody. Temperatures are rising on other planets in the solar system as well. Libs whine and cite "consensus" among scientists...which is nonsense, since consensus is not science. Science is reproducible results that stand up to scrutiny. And this is the scrutiny that man-made global warming wackos cannot stand up to:

1 - What percentage of current temperature increase is due to man, and what percent is due to natural variation of the sun or other factors?

2 - Man-made global warming enthusiasts use the "hockey stick" graph to predict catastrophic effects in the future. This graph is based on the output of global climate models. Yet these models cannot be accredited. Global climate models predict future warming even when *RANDOM* data are input for past temperatures, indicating that the model algorithms would predict future warming regardless of the past.

3 - Global climate models use past recorded temperatures, but for years prior to 1700, they use other methods to "estimate" temperatures. These methods cannot be validated, their accuracy cannot be confirmed.

So many Y!A libs have run from this scrutiny...it is staggering.

I'm so tired of this liberal 'give a hoot' campaign that started in the 1970's and continues today as 'save the polar bears'. Everyone should put their garbage wherever it falls--we don't need to have the government pay people to empty all those trash cans--they can find real jobs and the trash can sit there. And if we didn't worry about all this emmisions control on our power plants, my bill might be five dollars a month lower. I'm totally being robbed.

It is kind of like those who are eagerly awaiting the rapture. They did in the 20th Century, 19th Century, 18th Century and so on too.

And no, Al Gore was born in 1948 so that would mean he was not around in 1922.

So whether global warming exists or not does that give us the okay to continue to pollute unabated?

He was just a visionary.. it is well documented by those who support human aided global warming theories that our influence started with the industrial revolutions of the 1800's. So it doesn't surprise me that some of the tell tale signs of global warming were starting to rear their ugly heads in the 20's. thank you for helping to prove to the non-believers that we DO have an influence on the environment.
