Hi VA, when you go to the ob-gyn he will tell you when the baby is likely to be due, so don't worry on that one.
We all feel for your morning sickness, sometimes munching on toast or cracker before you get up in the morning helps, and a cup of tea helped me too- but you have to have someone bring it to you!! One thing that was really a help was ginger beer- originally made ones not just the cheap stuff. it has to have real ginger to do any good. It is a commonly used tonic for any stomach upset.
As for what they do on first visit you can see varies, usually its a urine test, sometimes an internal, to check the size of the baby, and often send you off with blood tests to be done. It all seems like a big scary thing now- but just look at all the people who have survived it?? And have gone back again?? You will be a great mum, your concerned with doing things well and right. Go to some pregnancy classes they will help you with things that will happen in the birth, give you exercises to practise for the birth and help answer any questions. Congratulations on your special miracle. God bless Mother of five

OK forst of all they will ask you the date of your last period...the beginning and not the end part...
So i used a ovulation calculator to make this rough estimate as i predicted oyur period was probably 21st June or there abouts...you are 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant give or take a few days...
Morning sickness is yucky so try eating ginger biscuits before getting out of bed in the morning, do not drink fruit juices on an empty tummy and never allow yourself to get over hungry makes the sickness worse so eat little and often.
Ok and at the first appointment, you will have to know the date of your last period, you will have your weight checked, blood pressure, a little chat about medical history, conditions in the family etc, and she will discuss the next appointment, some ob-gyn want a urine sample but not sure if its the same in the states...
good luck and i hope this all helps

It is kinda hard to tell you for sure how far along you are. I calculated that if you have a period ever 28 days (normally) and your period lasted from June 21-26, then you will be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Your estimated due date would be around March 27, 2008 or somewhere around that time. That is if your period is regular. If not, then an ultrasound will have to indicate how far you are into your pregnancy. As for the morning sickness, tell your doc and ask him to prescribe you some Zofran, it is considered ok to take during pregnancy, but if youve been to the ER two times already, then you need it. As for the first appointment, they will go over you and your partners history and family backgrounds. You will probably get a pelvic exam with a pap smear and he will check the size of your uterus. You usually get blood work done and welcome package as a gift (magazines, books, coupons, ect.). Your doc will prescribe you some prenatels if you dont already have them. Be prepared to answer a lot of questions. Have your bladder full because they will probably want to check your urine for protein, sugar, and infection. Hope this helps and good luck!

Your due date and how far along you are is counted from the first day of your last period. Go here to get your due date and how far along you are. http://www.due-date-calculator.com/
Every doctor does things a little different at the first appointment. If you have not had a pap this year they will want to do that as well as sending you in for some blood work. Some doctors although not all(mine doesn't) will do an ultrasound and after 10wks they can use a doppler to hear the baby's heart beat. They will likely send you home with a kit with lots of reading material and vitamin samples to try.

You start counting from the day your last period BEGAN. In weeks. Don't be scared before the appointment. They may do some tests, depending on how far along you are. Just make sure to tell the doctor everything you feel. You will get used to the appointments, trust me. They will tell you everything you should expect with pregnancy, so there is no surprises. Good luck

Why are you scared? Every doctor's office will handle their first appointment a little differently. They will probably have you give a urine sample. They will probably also take blood. They might give you an internal exam - they might not. Some do an ultrasound at the first appointment and some will wait. Try to drink fluids so you do not get dehydrated.
Don't be scared, you'll do just fine! Congrats!

Your first appointment they will date your pregnancy to figure out your due date, check your cervix to see if there are any abnormalities, (usually not) get your family history, set up an appointment schedule, tell you to get some prenatal vitamins, and answer any questions that you have. The best way to make sure they answer them all is to write them down on a piece of paper, and take it will you to the appointment. That way they address all concerns that you have. Also, go to the library, and check out books on pregnancy, babies, and child care. Start now, cause after your little one gets here, you won't have time to read!

Well the first appointmen is usually the longest due to having to do all the paper work on family health bacground and all the blood work. Some docs may request a ultrasound to determine your months or due date, he or she will feel your tummy if far enough along to measure the uterus or to if you are far enough they may not always but may try and find the heart beat. I would say that youmay be between 6 - 8 weeks so you are still early. Take care and enjoy your baby. Congrats!!!

Morning sickness is normal, so don't be scared about that. Here's a web page you can check out for your question regarding what to expect and the first appointment. Relax...it will all be fine.

I don't know how long your period was so I can't put in the first day of your period for you. Here is a due date calculator that also tells you how far along you are:
