ok. im 8 weeks pregnant. My eating habits have been terrible since the day I was born. My parents are the same way. No one in my family knows how to cook, my mom grew up with no parents, therefore I never ate good. I'm not fat, but i could lose about 20 pounds. I am not trying to lose weight, since im pregnant. my question is, I know you are suppose to eat super healthy when your pregnant, but if you dont, are you really hurting your baby? I take my prenatal vitiamins every night. Never missed one. But i dont eat vegetables. I drink alot of milk and orange juice. I only have one glass of soda a day. But i love ice cream and french fries. For breakfast I usually have a bagel and orange juice. For lunch, since my on my work lunch break, I have Wendy's nuggest and fries. For Dinner, I have maybe some chicken and mash potatoes or corn. I understand I dont eat the healtiest, but am I really hurting my baby even though I am taking my prenatal vitiamins every day?

It does affect your baby if you don't eat right, but it also affects your health. If you are taking the prenatal vitamins, that is good. The baby will get the nutrients it needs, but there will be nothing good leftover for you, and your health could suffer. All children need their parents to be healthy so that they will have someone to take care of them. Plus as the first answerer said, you are establishing your babies eating habits. Now is the time to break the cycle that your parents started and start eating healthier for you and your child.

A lot of junk food during pregnancy will cause unnecessary weight gain (on top of the normal pregnancy weight gain) and will feed you and your baby empty nutrients.

For the sake of you and your growing baby, you MUST eat right. Veggies, fruit, meat (well done), and your prenatal vitamins are a must.

Also, stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, especially now that it's at the hottest time of the summer.

If you deny your baby the nutrients it needs, that could lead to a high risk pregnancy and a sick mommy and baby.

Nothing is worse than mommy feeling faint and dizzy because she isn't getting enough nutrients.

Do the right thing for you and your baby. Then after you give birth and after you're finished breast feeding (if you choose to breast feed), you can eat allllll the junk you want.

But for now, you are a mommy and your first priority should be your baby, not you.

The way you eat and what you eat while pregnant will affect your childs eating habits for the rest of their lives!
