The military is non-partisan - or, at least, it's supposed to be. The people they're killing in Iraq don't care what American political party the soldiers belong to. The liberal soldiers and conservative soldiers share the same color blood, and they don't bleed any differently when a bomb goes off or they're shot. But conservatives seem to only care about the conservative soldiers. They constantly demean the contributions of liberal soldiers by pointing out that "the majority of the military is conservative." Why do they think that the political party of people who are merely following orders matters in the least?

Bella Donna: Constantly, huh? Funny, because I've never heard it happen ONCE. But if you say it happens CONSTANTLY... with no proof... I guess we all have to believe you.

Fly Over: I never said I don't like conservatives. Many conservatives are completely rational people whose political ideology I happen to disagree with, but that's okay with me. I don't need everyone to agree with me, and I don't condemn people simply for disagreeing. I believe if you read my question, you will see the words "SOME CONSERVATIVES." Please pay closer attention.

It is a conservative way of sounding more patriotic. There is no actual count of the political leanings of the military. Conservatives just want to be seen as the supporters of our armed forces and to paint Liberals asless patriotic. I find it interesting that two of the major conservative talk radio mouthpieces, that daily rant against "anti-military" liberals, never served in the armed forces.
It is all just talk.

Actually, about the same percentage of the military as the general population do not vote. The ones that do vote tend to vote Republican simply because Democrats tend to attack the military budget and the military itself.
Carter & the Dems decimated the military in the 70's which caused the military voter to look to the GOP for help. When Reagan pushed for rebuilding the Armed Forces, the Dems fought it. Under Clinton the base closures, Don't Ask Don't Tell, as well as the witch hunts by Pat Schroeder (D) leading to ADM Kelso's forced retirement and the eventual suicide of ADM Boorda left the military feeling that Democrats were waging a war against them.
The Dems insistence on not counting military absentee votes in the 2000 election and statements by the likes of Kerry & Murtha that our soldiers are murders and routinely commit atrocities against civilians has done nothing to endear the Democrats to the military.
Now this doesn't necessarily make military voters conservatives but, when the military IS your life and one party is constantly attacking the military which party would you vote for?

authentic yet there are procedures and private adventure besides. "vote casting top" attempting to suss out the vote casting forms of the protection stress, and the procedures wherein their expert frustrations and satisfactions spill over into politics, has consistently been a murky, Kremlinology-like sport. the dep. of protection, which for the reason that 1955 has had an place of work designed to sell vote casting between the protection stress and music participation expenses, does not shop information on what number infantrymen vote Democrat or Republican, yet it does understand that they vote at slightly bigger expenses than generic human beings. And ever for the reason that almost immediately after worldwide conflict II, whilst lecturers first grew to grow to be distinctive and frisky sufficient to decide to pollsoldiers, there have been rules making it unlawful to realize this. scholars who learn the politics of the protection stress place self assurance in what scraps of information they could assemble, and then, squinting, attempt to appreciate a trend. they look at surveys of the political attitudes of highschool seniors, go-referenced by ability of no rely if the scholars plan to flow directly to college, to artwork, or to the protection stress. They be conscious those nationwide opinion surveys which ask members no rely if or no longer they're veterans. They place self assurance in the non-political surveys of the social and cultural attitudes of the protection stress. They test absentee-pollreturns in seek of discernible forms of protection stress vote casting. quite often, they consult from infantrymen interior the sector and enhance, over the direction of their careers, anecdote-pushed, tough senses of ways infantrymen are probably to vote. however the consensus view seems to be that the protection stress as an entire votes Republican by ability of a margin of slightly below 2-to-a million, with enlisted adult adult males and ladies Republican by ability of three-to-2, and Republicans outnumbering Democrats between officers by ability of 8-to-a million. (fortuitously for Democratic partisans, there are 15 cases as many enlisted adult adult males as officers). scholars understand even much less approximately how the protection stress has voted interior the previous. yet they have widespread a extensive narrative of the demographics and shifting historic cultures of the protection stress that helps clarify its evolution as a political entity.

It's simply a matter of character. The sort of selfless, patriotic, teamwork kind of character that is required to be a good soldier is more often found in those who want to protect the country that they love, as opposed to those who enter the service for lesser reasons. The former group is more likely to share the values of conservatives, which usually coincide with the values of the military - a sense of honor, sacrifice, duty, responsibility, respect for the service and integrity that some liberals find lacking in their philosophy of life.

I half agree. You over-generalized with your disliking of Conservatives. Every soldier that I have met in my lifetime (that wasn't drafted) is/was a conservative or a moderate. There isn't too much room for people that want to "talk" in the military. How many actual liberals do you know in the military and how many actual soldiers/military personnel do you know? The highest ranking person I know trains pilots at Luke Air Force Base, goes to my church and................is a conservative. The lowest ranking is a moderate and is waiting to be shipped out. He knows we're at war and he knows that he will most likely go to war.
***I did read your question, twice before I answered. The only mention of "some conservatives" comes from your added details. Aside from that, we can have some agreeance. :)

People in the military vote mostly Republican.
That's why Algore sought to keep their absentee ballots from counting in Florida. Al sought to steal the election, he lost anyway. Now he makes up schit about global warming.
The U.S. lucked out not getting him as President.

The military is traditionally conservative because conservatives have always had the stance of growing our defense and liberals have shrunk it. Its all politics. Which group increases the spending on the military and which one doesn't.
