This is from my book "Mayo Clinic Guide To A Healthy Pregnancy"
Study results show that a moderate intake of caffeine - 200 mg or less a day, which is the amount in about 2 cups of coffee - has no negative effects on pregnant women and their babies.
I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you drink like 500mg of caffeine per day (which is a TON), it shouldn't won't have any affect on you or the baby.

Coffee is not going to hurt your baby as long as you really are careful of how much you drink; less than three cups or the equivalent of 300 milligrams of caffeine, a day. Moderation is the key to any food! I drank coffee (no more than 1 or 2 cups) during my 1st pregnancy, and I have a healthy and intelligent little girl. Do stay away from sodas, which some actually have more caffeine than coffee. BUT if you plan to nurse your baby, you may want to give up your coffee at that time. The caffeine will get into your milk and actually make your baby very hyper. Nursing vs. pregnancy are definately not the same thing! I know this from experience. One time is all it took for me to learn that lesson! Stay away from de-cafe coffees too. I've heard that it's not good for you at all.
Also, sodas have no nutritional value so all you are doing is adding sugar to your blood stream. It also causes "bubbles" that could irrigate your baby. You are not doing yourself any favors my drinking soda. Try switching to gaterade or juices instead.
See the links below for additional info. Here's an interesting part of the 1st article that I found. (I've easily found 4 articles for you. See links to them below.)
"My wife cut out pretty much all coffee and tea throughout her pregnancy to be on the safe side. As it turns out, Emily was born 2 months premature, and guess what is part of the baby's medical care while in the NICU? Yep, that's right. Caffeine. She's getting daily caffeine shots to help stimulate her breathing and her heart rate."

You should avoid caffeine while pregnant...at least too much. Remember it's in a lot of foods and drinks. Chocolate killed me, I love it and had to keep it to a minimum. IT was worth it though. My first daughter was just over 5lbs and 10 days late, the doctor said she felt it was because of the caffeine, so I avoided it with my second daughter and she weighed just over 7 lbs. Not sure if this is why, but still convincing enough for me! Good luck.

Discuss with your doctor about tea, coffee and soft drinks which contain caffeine. Also look for the contents of several medicines etc.

its because of the caffeine, but you don't have to cut yourself off completely. just have to cut back. so only have one soda or one cup of coffee. two is okay too, but wouldn't push it to much because there are a lot of things we eat that have caffeine and don't even realize it, like chocolate.

It is true, although my midwife and other midwifes that I have met have said that up to four cups of coffee a day are ok. Although they are a bit iffy about energy drinks with caffeine and guarana in them, although i drank them all throughout mine ( i dont drink coffee) and my son is an angel so i dont think it affected him or me too badly :)

My doctor says 1 -2 small cups of coffee is fine. More than that can cause low birth weight...but 1 to 2 small cups is just fine. It does have to do with the caffiene...so if you like soda, I would think limit your caffiene intake to no more than 1 to 2 small cups a day...other than that...decaf and water.
