HAVE FUN READING, BUT THIS IS ALL TRUEE!
Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, also known simply as Newport Harbor, is the replacement show of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Just like its predecessor, the show documents the lives of several teenagers living in Newport Beach, California, a beachside community located in Orange County, California that was made popular by FOX's The O.C. Laguna Beach was initially developed as a documentary of teens living in the wealthy, beachside community of the same name. The series' ratings took massive dip during season three, and the producers considered relocating. Producers scouted numerous other wealthy Southern California towns such as San Marino, Anaheim Hills, Rancho Santa Fe, and Malibu before finally deciding to base the show in city of Newport Beach, California. The teens were not filmed for the usual eight month period, but for a shortened three months, most likely to time the premiere to coincide with The Hills season 3 premiere. To the likeness of its predecessor, Newport Harbor documents the lives of wealthy young people living in Newport Beach and attending Newport Harbor High School. Casting would interview applicants about school, their social life, and any romantic interests in search of a story to document that would be of interest to the target audience. Little did they know that "family life" will also be a major theme throughout its premiere season. Cameras were not invited into the school, but a single camera was taken into formal dances possibly by a cast member and some footage will be used on-air. The only event to which cameras were allowed was graduation because it was in a public venue rather than the school itself. Newport Harbor will not steer away from the usual drama of friendly rivalries and love-triangles, but will also include storylines involving family members. In the upcoming season, cast member Chase will be seen interacting a lot with his mother and brothers as his parent's divorce was essential to his back story. And yupp, they're not gonna show Cami and thems senior year. This isn't considered to be a first season but it's countinued from Laguna Beach so this is considered as the 4th season. It's not that make a big of a difference because it's only a mile away from Laguna. But it's still not gonna top Laguna Beach

They say that after 3 years of following the same people around it was time for a change because everybody introduced in the first ones are leaving. Newport Harbor is what MTV offers now and I guess we just have to deal.
You probably could complain to MTV. Go to MTV.com and look around. I know in the top right hand corner there's a link that says "send feedback" so you could try that.
Hope this helps. :-)

Producers claim that many of the season 3 cast members were not interested in doing a 4th season.
They also said that they had alot of problems with cast member Kendra criticizing the show in television interviews.

Because it stinks! You can write to MTV, but you would need a petition signed with a whole lot of signatures for it to even matter to them.
