Gangster, Nerd, Prep, Jock, Emo, Goth, Punk, Skater etc. People say that certain racial groups can't be in certain cliques, because of their race. But shouldn't they be able to be were they feel they belong? It's stupid how blacks and hispanics are thought only to be allowed gangster and stuff in that category, Asians and Middle easterns are thought to be the EXTREMELY nerdy people, or whites are supposed to be the prepy rich kids. I think that people should be able to be who they want to be. What do u think?

I think people can be whoever they want to be, but it's extremely hard for some people to break out because of all the stereotypes.

There's still white gangsters (wangsta) and black nerds at my school though.

people should always be able to be where they feel like they belong. unfortunatly it doesnt always work out that way.

here is an example from my town, west bend wisconsin. we're a mostly white community, always has been. so, as a result, you see white kids in every group, including gangster kids. now, ive been to parts of chicago where true gangsters hang out. i know how they act and like, if the gangster kids from my town went down there, they would get their asses kicked for acting the way they do. they tend to take the gangster thing to an extreme, off the charts version of what they think gangster is. yes, there are some kids who do the gangster thing, but do it in a way they dont make complete asses of theirselves, but the majority of kids trying to fit into groups in my town have no idea what the group is really about, so, in all honesty, they end up looking really stupid when you compare them to the real thing.

this is where i think the problem arises. you can think you fit in because you try to, but you do it with no experience of the real thing...so you end up half assing it, and therefor looking like a fool. to me its not about race. its about kids going out there and doing what they think that clique would do, and not doing it right, or doing it with no actual knowlege of the subject, and half assing it.

I'm white and in high school my clique consisted of my best friend who is Indonesian, Cambodian friends, and white girls. Really, our school didn't have much diversity, but no one seemed to notice and no, not one race hung out with only themselves. I don't know why it seems that it happens a lot that way- maybe it is because they come from similar backgrounds so they have more things in common. I think most people hang out with who they want to be with - why wouldn't you?

Hell yes any race can be in any clique. Who the hell is to say only whites can be preppy, blacks can be ghetto, and Asians nerdy? NO ONE. Their people regardless of race, color, or credo. People will either like you for who you are or not, color and race have nothing to do with it.

in my high school we had diverse cliques. there were whites who were "gangsta", asians who were far from nerdy, and blacks who were in the top 10 of the class. i do beleive that any race can be in any clique because i have seen it.

Cliques are for people who cant think for themselves!!!! so with that said, try being in your own clique. you might find that you actually despise the superficial, brainwashed puppets that compose those other groups. besides, isn't school about learning?
