...you all zeroed in on the old part that surprised me.....
I am a Punk and I am cool with labeling myself before someone else does...I have lived the life for almost 3 decades and still can't sit still when I hear a certain riff or bunch of lyrics....I think Punk is not dead as long as some kid some where is putting on a show at vfw hall...and is alienated from the " normal" people at his school or work or town. I am still as angry as I was way back when and hope to never lose that edge....Punk did get Hijacked that is a good way of putting it. but who would turn down a fat check? being poor sucks.. I am one of the old folks that love to talk to Punk kids that are tuned it to it.....give em cd's and stuff... and I can't wait to play a show again...it gets hard because we have a small son so going to shows is kinda limited....

Punk is a state of mind.
Consider Iggy Pop.
For myself I never cared for punk style or music, but I don't see why any style is bound by age.
Of course, however, it is important for a lot of young people to claim that older people are not even really human.
It will make killing them off for their social security easier when the order comes down.
Heil youth.

Of course someone old can still be punk. Our generation started it. I don't know about being 45yrs old with a mohawk, but the music was born in our generation so we should still be able to go to shows and enjoy the music. I'm 35 and just went to The Warped tour (with my daughter) but I enjoyed watching The Circle Jerks who I haven't seen in years The Vandals, Bad Religion , Pennywize s*** I was getting ready to start moshing again but the wife made me stop. I just went to a Suicidal Tendencies show last friday too.

As far as the music goes, no. I think someone "old" people can be punk... in example, Jerry Only, (Gerald Cafaia) Glen Danzig, Lars Fredrickson...
++But, Greenday, Avril Lavinge, Are NOT punk, nor will they ever be. ++

Punk, for all intents and purposes, is dead -- or if it's not dead, it's been hijacked -- it's meaning has been changed. "Pink" and "Green Day" are passing for punk somehow. An old person can be punk, sure... but WTF is punk anymore?
