There may be a need for one if that debacle in Iraq continues or if we get into it with Iran.

Avoiding it will mean someone will be on his 5th or 6th tour of 18 months over there. He will be tired and mentally unstable but he'll do his duty as a weekend warrior in his state's national guard while the regular army is deployed elsewhere.

top after a brilliant worldwide extensive conflict starts off; a protection stress draft will take Congressional approval and is not any longer likely to be re-instated except the worldwide conflict 2 scale of wrestle operations commence. The political fall out from approving meaning it won't happen or perhaps the protection stress has pronounced on extra then one occassion that it is not needed or needed right this moment. the protection stress manpower standards are low and a draft is needed whilst those standards are low. If the draft might basically get one1 out of one thousand human beings then it might serve no purpose that could desire to off set the political fall out.

By drafting, history proves, you force a lot of Liberals to serve that would never in the first place ever think of serving their country. While they may hide behind comment's like you see on this board, (The military averages about 80% right leaning) so they flaw thier argument about "Hawks" that support but are afraid to serve, is just a soundbite to hide thier true fear of service.

Thus if their is a draft, history has shown that the people that would never serve in the first place are forced to serve and the quality and even the safety of those who volunteer goes down and like in vietnam you get a degraded force.

Absolutely not. I think the military should stick with enlisting only those who wish to be in the military. A draft goes against everything America stands for. Support by the people will identify what just causes are worth fighting for.

if the government REALLY wants an uprising on its hands, it should reinstate the draft. and you thought approval ratings were at record lows now. i can't even imagine the depths they would sink to.

it won't happen. no one could be so stupid as to force citizens to fight in a war only a small percentage of people support. but, then again, i am constantly surprised by the stupidity of this administration.

No, barring actual invasion of US land, at which point people will not be drafted but will act more as militia and irrelgulars.

Drafts hurt standing armies. The last thing you want is to have someone who resents being there watching your back.

no, people who do not want to defend our country, and our way of life should not be forced to!

For those who feel that the republicans or conservatives who believe in this war should be forced to join, all I can say is that you should live amongst those people, to see the difference that we are truly making.

Hell no! Every man should have the chance to pick his battles. Republicans who support the war should be the only ones forced in to battle! By the way, I served in the Army for four years and I want my fellow battle buddies home! Now thats really supporting our troops!
