Its nothing wrong with wanting to know how much teachers make because even though you will be making a difference in childrens life.. you still have to pay the bills right? But teachers make around 35-38 could make 40 with masters. Since you also plan on being an author, thats even better..GOOD LUCK.

My wife and I teach English in China. Most of the schools in China provide free housing and utilities as well as some perks like traveling to tourist places. Most expat teachers move to a different area every year so they can so more of the country. The pay is between 3000 RMB a month ($394) and up my wife and I have been offered as much as 16000 RMB a month ($2000) it all depends on accent and teaching experience. After 2 or 3 years you can have almost any job you want.

We have chosen a lower paying job because we like the city we are in and our son will be attending a local school. We will earn 3500 RMB each but the average local wage is less than 700 RMB per month. We have a big house approximately 2000 sq feet, a maid that buys food, cooks, cleans up after us, washes the clothes and anything else we want. We over pat her….700 RMB a month (>$100) we have come to the realization that we will probably never live in the states again because we have been spoiled here.

If you're only concerned with how much a teacher makes, please don't study to be one.

Teaching is a passion for educators...and I'm not sure how many this applies to, but I used to play school when I was 6 years old in my playroom....and continued to play school until I was 13! I always knew teaching was what I wanted to do, and what I was good at most of all. I never really questioned how much I'd make...

I've been working for four years and make close to $40,000 BUT....and I stress BUT....total college tuition for my bachelors and masters degree was $80,000....and each month I make a hefty loan payment. So, if you're only concerned about money, don't do it.

Starting out most teachers make about 35,000-40,000. It depends on the region though. Here in VA, most starting salaries are around 38. You get more if you have your masters and a lot of places offer a 5th year masters degree, which I would really recommend.

I could probably make a lot more with my doctorate in the non education world- but I do just fine.

I have a moderate size house on the mountain.

To me it doesn't matter what they make. the gratification of making a difference in someones life is the rewarding part. See I have always wanted to be a teacher.............
