LJ has really had 1 good year. If I was an owner would I fork over huge guaranteed money to a player like that? Sorry but no. Give LJ a good contract and some guaranteed signing bonus money, lace it with performance incentives. That tells LJ, hey we think you are a good RB, here is a little money up front, perform well and there is lots more waiting.

Why should he? First off we know LJ is about to be an injury liability, why do you think he WANTS so much, no one runs like 400+ times in the regular season without wearing down. Especially a "power" back. It isn't like he is just running so much because no one touches him. He is running so much to get yards. Then people say oooo look at all the yards he got, look at the YPC to see who is REALLY the best when you get towards the top. Give me 500 carries and I could probably get at least 1000 yards. It's not like he is getting tackled in the backfield in any regularity.
OK now to the other aspect. Look at the Steelers and what happened to them with Maddox. He became the starter so they gave him a new contract worth starter money. They he got hurt and Big Ben went in and kept winning so Maddox was replaced as the starter. They ended up paying him starter money to basically sit on the bench for TWO YEARS. No team wants to get burned like that, and other examples can be named.

King Carl got screwed by paying Priest Holmes, who only played 1 complete season in the last 4 years. He's not going to let LJ do the same thing, especially since that big guaranteed money is just that.

LJ is asking for more money than he's worth. He's been a good back on a great team; with the team (especially the Chief's amazing O-Line) beginning to crumble around him, if LJ can put up stats again like he has been and he can prove that it was him, not the O-line, than the Chiefs will pay him. Until he proves himself, though, LJ is just another example of a decent back in a great situation.

It is the Earl Campbell theory. If you expect a running back to carry the ball that many times in a season, you can expect his career to be a short one. So guaranteed money to someone that will wear out and break down early is not very smart. It is not fair to LJ but no other team will give him that much either. He is damaged goods already.

No offense but I could run behind KC's O-line. LJ seems to be getting greedy to me. I say let him hold out. Priest is back and I would venture to say will be better than ever if given an opportunity.

he wants more money than LT, with the amount of carries he gets in a season they aren't paying him as much because he will wear down easier, we are close to a deal worth 23 million though
GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!
